Absolutely. Macron won by a good margin too. Brit media now on about how this is going to effect Brexit. They were hoping for an ally in the negotiations. They are still flying solo after today.....

Socialism doesn't work folks. None of the political systems really work. Capitalism, if regulated correctly, is probably the best of a bad lot. France is a centrist capitalist country. Not to dissimilar to Ireland, UK, Germany and most of Europe in fact.

I'm glad the fascist didn't win. I'm not overly enthusiastic about Macron - seems to be offering reheated Third Way Blairism, but at least he's a reasonably enlightened internationalist. Here's hoping that Europe has turned the tide on xenophobes and isolationists.

Just because the Nazis called themselves "National Socialists", it doesn't mean that they were socialists. Australia's conservative party are called the Liberal party. Fianna Fail aren't actually soldiers.
