It's polite to open or hold open a door for anyone, I say "thank you" but if people don't say thank you to me, I let the next one go...

Was recently discussed and a few ladies did share why they didn't like it.

It's a great thing...shows respect and being polite and contrary to many thoughts there no agenda....well not with me anyway.

And what reasons did they give?

I struggle with a door at my local shop. I nearly have to take a run up to it it's so heavy.

Yep I'm happy to have them opened by anyone and will happily do the same.

I love when a man is doing that, it's old fashioned but a lovely gesture to be treated like a lady.

Those against or those who felt offended were mostly strong feminist. Mostly felt they could do it themselves and didn't need the help. .. It came across mostly the feeling of i dont need the help I can do it just as easily myself. Which was sad as in the most the comments were about extending courtesy. I do it without even thinking. ...and i suddenly found myself thinking while reading comments that I need to start to think who is behind the face of the one I ooen the door too. I do it irrespective of gender without thinking.

Yep this exactly

Doesn't matter if it's male or female or who's holding the door for who, I think it's just common courtesy to hold it
