We r off for a couple days to Amsterdam. Any one who's been have any tips on what to do and not to do while there?

Everything I've done in Amsterdam has been great. Museums are great. The obvious sex museum is a good laugh.

Boat trip on the canals is fun.

The red light district is not my thing. Also hated by the locals.

Just sitting in one of the many cosy cafes and watch people is fun.

Eating fritjes with bitterbalen.

Leave the city and enjoy the very pretty country side.

If you miss Ireland go to Mollly Malone's

If you have some 'spare' time whilst there I'd advise you to visit the flower fields, these are starting to bloom the colors and scents are amazing. There's a town called Lisse which has a massive flower garden and is well worth the visit. There's a flower parade in that area on the third Saturday of the month of April every year which is stunning.

Rent out a bike and get lost in the city!! It's amazing we are going in may for eight days! I cannot wait!!

Try lost in Amsterdam it's a cafè they do amazing milkshakes! And if smoking is your thing or you want to try while there . The staff is very helpful.

We did the bolts meusum and the cocktails were great there.

Keep the Windows in your hotel room locked at night! Went there a few years ago with ex gf and in the middle of having sex 2 guys hop in the window and asked if they could cut through as the cops were after them. I said sure nd they left. A trip on a barge along the canals is also nice if the weather's good.

Dont eat in any chinese indonesian and turkish resteraunts. Cant stress that enough. That was a warning from a local that sadly i didnt heed. Theres a uruguayan steak house of rokin..top notch. Taxis are dodgy..and the red light...watch pockets. If the banana bar is still there...itll bkow your mind!

Buy the tram pass at centraal station as the the trams are expensive and the museums and best attractions are usually other sides of the city can get 24hr 48hr 72hr and are very resonable hop on hop off great.

1) zoo.

2) paloma pizzeria restaurant near zoo cheap and excelent.

3)het baloon coffee shop 5mins from zoo.

4) ij brewery cheap drink best place on a sunny day under a windmill.

5)vondel park nice on a sunny day picnic (dont feed the ducks/geese or you will be terrorised).

6)wonder around jordaan were the rich live winderful clean streets picture perfect amsterdam.

7)leave the city haarlem true dutch city gorgeous place cycle out takes about 1hr lovely cycle.

8)best coffee shop dampkring handboogstraat (be carful of the stoned cat he will drink your milkshakes lol)

9)best chinese resturant happy happy joy joy eastern docks gorgeous food walk along the docks and watch the sun set.

If ya get none of the done dont worry you will have a wonderful time l&j veterans veel sterkte

If you don't take dope don't do it there cos when you drink u will end up with your head in the gutter and weekend ruined

Its been a while for me but if belgian beer and a good meal is your thing, there is a great bar called HET ELFDE GEBOD (the 11th commandment on zeedjik, very close to central station

If you want to smoke, the bluebird, its very close to the Rembrandt house. Give the Anne Frank museum a miss. The zoo is fantastic, you will get a good curry at the Koh-i-noor
