Greenway Westport to Achill

Thinking of spending a few days in Westport and cycling this greenway to Achill and back. What bikes are best suited to this - mountain bike or road (racer type) bike. I don't have a hybrid bike.

Definitely a mountain bike.. Pathways are rough in places you might puncture a road bike easily..

Rent a bike. And if you don't fancy the cycle back most places will pick you up. Racer not suitable as it's a track in places. Mountain bike may be too sluggish. Enjoy it a great cycle

I've travelled from Westport to Achill on the greenway on a road bike and it was more than suitable
