The economist this week has an article about online dating fraud.

Last year it cust Britain's £40 million and 6 out of 10 victims were women. 2/3th aged between 40 and 59. The average loss was 10 grand...

Jesus - this is something always near the front of my mind tbh. Sucks how cautious we need to be. What way were the frauds pulled off?

Mainly on normal dating sites. Apparently there are call centres in Nigeria running scams doing research etc etc.

One woman was scammed for 230 grand to "help out " an "architect " who was facing ruin over a contract that went wrong.....
