Key to cheaper insurance is get as many quotes as you can. The renewal is always huge because 60 % of us either just pay it or ring up and get told it's because of market conditions and other shite.

If you can get several quotes then go back to your original company and they will match it. It shows the cynical self serving mentality that they do. Try chill.ie 123.ie and also fbd.ie . In other words try them all.

Be careful though. Look behind the broker to the actual insurance companies. If you have two close quotes one from a recognisable insurance company and one from a company you never heard of then go with the brand name. Several of them went under last few years.

In short it's a cowboy industry run by guys who like to screw their most loyal customers the most.

You have to shop around (I always do) insurance has leaped in the last couple of years. I got the two best quotes from 123 and allianz, went with the latter as they allowed evenly spread monthly payment whereas the other wanted about 25% upfront.

try get a quote with a family member car owner on your policy. i know it sounds ridiculous but its cheaper to have someone on your policy as long as they have their own insurance policy also but it does.

In the UK there are no insurance or tax discs. Both are confirmed by automatic number plate recognition systems with the insurance company confirming cover.

The same insurance companies here refuse to give such data to the gardai here citing "data protection ".

There are 350000 uninsured drivers in Ireland. 5 times the UK rate.

Uninsured drivers are 10 times more likely to cause a claim.

Hands up who thinks the insurance companies are not pissing in our mouths?
