Does anyone dislike going home for Christmas?? I decided to go back after 4 days at home. Lovey family but they can drive you mad, parents especially. Really considering going abroad to somewhere warm next Christmas.

Well done, you lasted 4 days

I choose to spend it on my own rather than have to bite my lip while my mother spits poison the sadistic knowledge that everyone is too shit scared to challenge her

Which is a shame, because I'd love to see my Dad

Make the most of your family. I lost my parents in my 20's and I'd do anything to have them back.

Grin and bear it ... you just never know, so enjoy them

Ah I know, don't get me wrong I love them, just can make it difficult for other family members and when you're stuck In the middle it's a horrible place to be.

OP, if you don't want to go, don't go. Visit them throughout the year and do what you like at Christmas.

I'm writing this post from Spain, it was 25 degrees on the terrace today and much as I love my parents/family I couldn't spend Xmas with them, so I'd rather be here.

It's 2 or 3 days out of a whole year, for fuck sake, suck it up and give your parents the pleasure of your company.

Mine 'kids' no idea how much it means to me to have them around but I hope I've instilled some respect and awareness of the importance of family, no matter what time of the year it is.

I would have to agree. Lost my Dad and brother in 2009. Miss them like hell especially now when I come home and they are not there anymore.
