Dublin's hidden gems

Jump to newest

So I'm heading to Dublin in a Couple of weeks. Have some friends arriving from New Jersey and I'm looking for some touristy things to do while in the capital.

So who knows dublin's hidden gems?

Dunboyne & Dublin

Define hidden gems?

Loads of tourism stuff like Guinness Storehouse, the Viking centre and Viking bus tour, Temple Bar, Mulligans Poolbeg Street for a proper pint, Stephens Green, Bruxelles for Phil Lynott statue and late nights, 127 Baggott Street for naughty shenanigans(apparently) and much more.

I suspect these aren't what you're looking for though?

Sorry to the real Dubs for answering before ye and please add to the list for a lady with an amazing ass

Get the ticket for the bus tour think it stops at most of them and you can hop on or off at your leisure.

A lot will depend on what kind of tourist stuff they/you like. If it was me I would definitely head out to the coast for a bit, some great walking spots - Dun Laoghire,Kiliney, Howth, Sandymount, Clontarf and Malahide mainly.

There is some fantastic hidden cocktail lounges around the city, (well, kinda hidden) ill think of the names in a bit and pm them.

The blind Pig is a good one - you will need to book online - it centers around the theme of the outlaw houses in times of prohibition that the cops would throw a blind eye to. (hence - the blind pig)

On booking you will receive a letter with instructions on how to get there, codes for doors, secret handshakes and what to do if asked where you are going (tell them you are attending the old ladies funeral )

Anyway, one inside you get lite bites and they usually have some great live jazz playing on weekends - its very harmless and fun and a good way to wind down after the touristy day - great idea in my view. I'll send on more as I think of them

Grogans pub on South William street.

Carpet on the floor, toasted specials, smells of guinnesss farts. It's an institution, plus a great place to watch the world go by while having a quick pint

There and to the left a bit

We're there this weekend to see Biffy Clyro and make a long weekend of it...so this thread has been useful for some ideas for what to do tomorrow...so thanks all for that...

...we went to the zoo yesterday and was excellent, ao definitely recommend that one....and today we found The Little Museum Of Dublin on St Stephen's Green which was really good...and filled a lot longer than we thought it would....does exactly what a good museum should...gets you thinking and wanting to find out more.
