Hi, you can travel to Spain with an Irish passport once the expiry is within in your return date.

That's something that bugs me ...paying for a 10yr passport which in reality expires at 9 yrs & 6 months ... truth is I don't know. My Mrs travelled with 5 months left on hers. They stopped her in Dublin to point this out, and said she may have trouble on the other side on her return trip. Luckily there was no bother.

Yes that seems the only way to be sure.

Did check their website and it tells you

you can travel within the expiry date

but there's just something I remember about

Ryanair that I Know caused problems.

However I will phone the right Department.

Thanks

You could try going into Bradys in Carrick "making enquiries" about price of hols in Spain, and ask them that....

I returned to Dublin in 2011. I departed from Spain via Italy and then France before finally arriving in Dublin on the last day, or the day before my passport expired, no issue what so ever, in booking tickets etc. The only thing said to me was by an Irish custom officer when I arrived in Dublin and all he said was "You're cutting it a bit fine there aren't ya"

If it's an eu passport and you're travelling to Spain, it's valid until the date of expiry.

I was in Spain in April 1 month before my passport expired. Didn't have any problems at all.
