We have one Irish man that is top of he's sport and there is so many sour jealous Irish guys who want to see him fail.

Get over yourselfs and support your own. The man dose nothing but promote this country and he is nothing but a gentleman to the fans and the public

But that's just typical Irish people being sour at another mans well earned success

Bertie Ahern is one of our own, should I support him at all times as well? I respect Conor for what he has achieved but just because he is Irish doesn't mean I'll suck his dick no matter what. He has a great ability to come across as a massively arrogant tosser which is a trait I hate in a person.

Bertie isn't one of the worlds best at anything whereas Conor is. Berties probably not even the best Bertie Ahern there is.

He's massively arrogant because thats what makes money. Its half sport and half showbiz and it always has been. You only have to look at Ali and Mayweather in boxing to see the same thing. Wrestlings a billion dollar sport based off exactly this.

Personality sells tickets. Arrogant personalities sell even more because the people support him buy them and the people who hate him pay to see him lose. Theres a reason Conors headlined shows make the most money. Hes playing a role and playing it better than most.

He's a showman as well as a good fighter! He's the single reason I watch UFC.

I believe the man has so much want he could do whatever he wants. The money is a novelty to him

Why should being one of the best matter? Far too often in society talent is deemed as being more important than what someone is like as a person. I won't ever agree with that.

We don't really know why he's massively arrogant or what he's really like behind the scenes, unless you, or someone else here, is good friends with him. I will admit I don't know what he's like behind the scenes either.

I won't ever question his talent or hard work. He's a trojan on those fronts. And fair play to him last night, a great achievement. But he could have achieved all of that without the attitude, now I'll except him bank account would be a lot smaller.

I certainly don't hate McGregor though. Hate the game, not the player. I find it depressing that for people to pay attention to you that you need to act like a arrogant, classless piece of shit.

First thing OP. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I promise you, McGregor wants to be hated. He wants to be divisive and polarising. If he was well liked he wouldn't be the draw he is now. People who want you to fail, will pay more to see it happen than people who want him to succeed!

I listen to an American sports talk radio show. They love him. They compare him to Ali. Not skill or talent wise. But for impact and interest. His trash talk is designed to sell fights. And it works. Spectacularly.

He's a showman. He's entertainment. He's super quick witted. He delivers interesting fights. He's kept UFC relevant. Who watches a pre fight press conference? No one. Unless it's a McGregor press conference.

He's not the most talented. He's not a technician. But He is one of the toughest people around and at the lower weights he's a a tank.

I'm not into mma. I have never bought a PPV. I'm not a fan. But i do know how much of an impact he has made.

Im not a fan of the sport and wasnt a fan of the showman that Mc gregor invented for himself. His brash arrogance annoyed the hell out of me for some time, until i read about the other side to him.Where he donated to the homeless charity here at home to provide a mobile health clinic and to help families who have become homeless. He also lent his name to highlight the issue of homelessness here. Over time,my mind has changed about him and am delighted for him and the supporters that he won. I was fairly amused at him announcing the upcoming arrival of his baby in the new year and getting the month wrong and his quote " when it happens ill be crapping my jocks!"

We re all human at the end of the day

FYI

He also visits Crumlin children's hospital on a regular basis

Last time was supposed to be a quick pit stop and turned into an all day event.

The showmanship is to sell tickets and he does that in spades .

As someone who knows him personally I would like to point out that what you see is the showmanship. The bravado. It agitates his competitors and that gives him the upper hand. It's also for publicity. As they say, there's no such thing as bad publicity. Your talking bad of him but you are talking about him. Job done.

All fighters do it to some extent. Do you think Mohammad Ali got out of bed floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee? It's all bravado.

Or charisma, Ali was witty without being crass.

Saw the press conference in the lead up to the fight, this 'hold me back' stuff is cringeworthy. All staged pre-fight but fair play to him once he gets in the octagon.

And could his fanboys please ease up on the 'red panty night' comments too, would make the comments section of his articles easier to read!

Enniscorthy

Don't hate him, but not to keen on the sport as I find it a bit boring when it goes to ground. To myself he is probably best in the game, cause he always keeps his opponents up fighting and actually makes it a bit more exciting to watch.
