"Respect op tough way to do it, hope it goes well for you " I did think about using an ecig but I wanted to be completely free of nicotine from the start. But going from maybe 15 fags a day to zero is a fair shock to the system.

"*enters the room, slowly removes a cigarette from the packet, taps it a couple of times then lights it, rests it in an ashtray & leaves... " Thanks candy. You deserve a good spanking for that

"One thing for sure is that food is beginning to taste way better again " That happens but just be careful with it . 6 months after I quit I was up 2 and a half stone. I lost it again but it wasn't easy .

"Thanks everyone for your comments. Next step is to get back to my running and clean up my lungs. Or at least repair some of the damage done hopefully " You'll be amazed how much fitter you'll get in such a short period of time. Your breathing will improve greatly over the next month if you keep up the running. I'll say it again, well done and keep up the great work

"One thing for sure is that food is beginning to taste way better again That happens but just be careful with it . 6 months after I quit I was up 2 and a half stone. I lost it again but it wasn't easy ." Aye I'm aware of that hence why I'm going to take up running again. I used to be run two miles in 15 minutes. I don't know if that's good or poor by some peoples standards

"It's funny how the month I quit was the most stressful month I've had in a while with both work and personal dilemmas to deal with. " It's great that you didn't give in and use the recent hard time as an excuse to go back on them. It could have been an easy slope to slide down so well done for sticking to it. I know people who tried quitting but used any excuse to justify having a smoke. Good for you. A month is another milestone.

"Good man, cold turkey is the only way to beat it! Just stay away from the pub for the next couple of weeks... Alcohol is the ultimate temptation " This right here. I have quit smoking many times. Sometimes for a few years or a lot of months. My weakness it downfall has always been as soon as I have a drink in one hand I like to have a cigarette in the other. They're like a married couple. Have tried to divorce them so many times but they always end up getting back together.
