In words of one syllable or less, can anyone give me an answer

I've my family tree sent to me over 3 emails. Is there any way of getting them all together on one page?

Cut and paste into one document and reduce your font size.

Depends on the format of the data you have been sent.

All depends on what file type the attachments are. If the are Word docs then as above poster says, you can copy and paste into one document.

If they are another file type, you need to tell us what that is.

For example:

Word = .doc

Adobe Acrobat = .PDF

Text = .txt or .csv

And so on. Let us know one of the filenames with the dot and three letters at the end for specific instructions

Ok, sorry couldn't help but if you pm me your number when free tomorrow, I probably can.

As long as it's not an Apple device, as I'm unfamiliar with them.

Or pm me tomorrow and I'll give you my number to call if you're more comfortable with that.

Night.

Family Trees are generally huge in size overall - and because of the layout - they can contain far too much information to ever get on one page - even A3/A2 would be too small.

Normally generations are sub-divided into separate pages - which is probably what you have been presented with.

They should fit together - a bit like a jigsaw, when printed out.

However, if they have been sent to you as tables/databases/spreadsheets - they will need querying/extracting into printable versions.

Genealogy is one of my favourite hobbies, however I prefer to do my trees the traditional paper-based charted way - the database I have for the hard data is for reference only and I don't need to print it out.

Write it out on a piece of paper with a pen...

Unlike electronic media paper can last for years never gets deleted in error and you don't need back ups cloud storage or other places where your data can be hacked

THAT is actually what I want to do. But as we get down the years to my parents age group - I can't fit it all on one page. so i tried to tape two bits together - still not big enough. and every time I tried all that I had to start again

Try getting a roll of copy paper the sort used in printers...

Can turn it into the family scroll

.

Without being smart, it depends on how many generations it goes back!

If it ends with you, then 2 parents, 4 grandparents, 8 g. grandparents, 16 g g grandparents, etc....

Get back 10 generations and you are up to 512 g g g g g g g g grandparents

Even just putting dates and locations for them and where buried... it will be too big to fit on one page!

I've mine back 9 generations at present and that has 256 names for that generation...

Printed out on one continuous sheet by an Architect on same paper used for house plans! It's like a roll of wallpaper!!

If you start with yourself as Generation 1, Parents as 2, etc it is very easy to get to 6... that is 63 people to try to get on one page!

Anyone who can do graphic design/printing company could take the info and get it onto a larger area than the standard a4. Shouldn't be too hard

You can add it to ancestry for free and keep a tree online there, mines too big to keep anywhere else, I've over 1500 people in it and dating back to 1700 on some branches - I keep all the paper work in folders that's labeled depending on what side of the family they are on and then within that they are all numbered. Gets very complicated as it gets bigger! I can't imagine keeping it on a spreadsheet!

I didn't actually count the generations but it goes back 200 years. A cousin researched it and sent it to me over 3 emails.

And thats only to my Mum being born. It has expanded since then!

I want to take it to Australia so tho the roll of wallpaper is a good idea - its not very practial lol

This is just my mums side of the family. A cousin traced the line back to them arriving in Liverpool from Ireland in the 1700's.

I had wanted to get something printed (of a reasonable size) to take to Australia next year. I've a new grandbaby coming that I'm not likely to see very much of and I wanted something like this to take so they know something about us.

I think its just going to have to be on several sheets of paper. Unless a printer can help as was suggested

I think how he sent it to me is simply by taking photos of the tree and emailing them.

I could probably get what I have on a couple of sheets of paper and then sub divide from my mum onwards

That would work. Thanks

Ah I see! Well another option is you could but the family tree cd and export the info into a tree on the cd (takes two mins and really simple) then they can look at it on a computer when ever they want and even add their info to it and keep building it. You could get their immediate family printed off with afew branches to give them something tangible for the moment?

Yeah I think the Page Break view will show that and you can then manipulate accordingly.

Other option is to bring the pics to a local printing/copying place and they have paper on a roll that can print as wide as you like.
