Do they ever even be in the same place?

A bit off topic ish - but a few years ago we had a field mouse in our kitchen. Dog was useless but couldn't get a cat in because dog would have made its life a misery. By chance we happened to inherit a hamster - never ever saw the field mouse again. Were told that 'cos they are sort of related they don't go on one anothers territory. Is this the same with butterflies and moths?

I think it's very rare to find them the same place as a butterfly is diurnal & a moth nocturnal.

The butterfly I guess since moths wings seem to vanish if you touch them.
