"Catholic Ireland hasn't got over the fact that sex between consenting adults can be for pure pleasure - not just pro-creation within matriomony. That, and the Gutter Press use anything remotely sexual to 'expose' the less religious! " Seriously...... Religion!!! I didn't expect religion to be a factor. We're Catholic as our friends who like the scene.

"Sadly no. There is also the 'Small World' Syndrome to get past. In Ireland no matter where folks go - they are related to/know the neighbour of and more likely worked with/went to school with/went out with the sister [or brother] of just about anyone else in the province. Making avoiding certain venues that are off-limits because of the potential to run into folks who know their Mammie/Granny or both! When you want to keep your private life - private, these things have to be considered. Give Ireland another couple of generations, and things might relax. " Pardon my ignorance but if you met someone you knew surely that would just mean they are into the same scene as you. We bumped into someone we knew at a party once and it just made us all laugh

"Not necessarily - the other person may be frequently a venue for reasons other than the social. For example - working in the bar; gigging etc and just because they are known to you, doesn't equate to being friends/friendly with them. Acquaintances/enemies are as likely to be in a venue as friends. I know one event where a female arrived to enjoy the first part of the night - and when leaving to go to work almost crossed paths with her brother arriving after his shift had ended. Neither had known each other were on the site/going to an event. The Event Organiser hadn't known - but the Barman knew both of them. " Wow, never looked at it from that angle before. I see where your coming from now, thanks for the insight
