OK folks I'm thinking of trying these and giving up the evil smokes. Anyone have any recommendations of brand type etc? Are they a decent replacement for the fags? And are they better for my health?

The jury is out on whether they are healthier - no long term studies done yet

Did you try patches? I'm a smoker and love it but have sometimes been bullies (ha!) into iving up. Patches worked for me except I claw my arms to bits as I must be allergic to them

Try reading Alan Carr Easy way to Stop Smoking. Worked for me for a few years.

If not, joyetech adjustable battery/mod and a Nautilus Aspire tank with 6mg nicotine liquid is what keeps me off them now, mostly.

Best of luck

I think it's a prescription medicine.

OP don't start on e-cigs, they're just as addictive!

Quit smoking a year ago. Was vaping for the first few weeks...never again. I think it's worse than cigarettes.

Willpower and get it into your head never to smoke again.

It's tough going at the start but it can be done.

Hope you quit them OP, you'll be glad you did after a few months.

Just for you pretty lady I will reconsider but seriously they may be as addictive but at least they don't have the tar and all the other shit in a cigarette. Surely they are the lesser of two evils

I know, that's what I tell myself too but I think you'd be better off in the long run going cold turkey.

Those Champex have shitty side effects so I wouldn't recommend those either.

They worked for me too but I had newly long finger nails after 50 years of biting them. I scratched myself til I bled - but no way was I cutting the nails! I've forgotten which ones I had - Nicotinell (sp) I think. My daughter had different ones and no problems. Which isn't to say I wouldn't have had

Don't bother with them..They cause gum disease and tooth decay..when i was using them my gums would bleed and were very sensitive and a weird numbness on my teeth..after doing a bit of research i found that they do indeed cause gum disease/tooth decay..I gave them up soon after..i'd like to keep my teeth for a while longer

Th'on place over yonder

I vape and the cheapo starter kits are worth fuck all - if you're serious then bite the bullet and spend decent money for a decent starter kit....

I recommend the aspire premium kit - you get a proper tank, replacement coils and a variable volt battery unit - the tank, a mini nautilus, is a really good starter tank and this is what actually got me off the smokes - I'm pretty clued up on the vaping if you have any other questions

There are lots of scare stories about vaping and how dangerous it is, it's almost as if the tobacco industry wants you to not try it....

Ignore the crap you read in the likes of the Mail and Express and stick studies done by independent scientists.

The government ran a study and found them to be "95% less harmful than tobacco"

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/e-cigarettes-around-95-less-harmful-than-tobacco-estimates-landmark-review

As far as long term studies go, there will never be an accurate one as 99% of vapers were at one stage smokers, so any results will be skewed.

Also if you are serious about quitting do what's right for you. You'll hear loads of "Decided one day to stop, threw them in the bin, just stopped and haven't touched them in 15 years. Patches are for jessies" stories. Genetics play a huge part in how easy you find it to give up/how addicted you are.

http://www.cancer.org/research/acsresearchupdates/cancerprevention/genes-may-make-it-harder-for-some-to-quit-smoking

Either way, Good Luck

Forgot to add. I'm down as a smoker here but vape 99% of the time. I just can't resist an actual cigarette when I'm drinking.

As far as what kit to get I would actually avoid Aspire stuff. I have tried all of their kit and it always leaks.

To start off I would probably go with a Kanger protank 4 paired with a 1.5 ohm coil (the coil is the replaceable part of the tank that heats up the juice so you can smoke it). If you get on with vaping then I would start lowering the ohm value of the coil until you are using a sub-ohm coil (anything with a ohm value of 0.9 or below.)

Sub ohm coils require you to take lung inhale instead of mouth-to-lung like when you smoke a regular cigarette (anything above 1.0 ohm you can smoke like a regular cigarette). But you can get far nicer tasting juices when you are using a sub ohm coil/tank.

I'm hoping some of that will make sense

That's a bit of a blanket statement

I'm happy to report my teeth and gums are still perfect.

Maybe you were using a substandard product.

. Yeah I tried it twice before with the cheap kits. I thought this will do until I see will it work for me.

Admittedly I'm only a couple off weeks with a new kit and so far it's working for me.

It takes time to get the right flavour, strength ,etc. It's individual taste. But I fully agree that the cheap kits are a waste off time. Couldn't believe the difference until I tried it out.

Hi OP.

I smoked for 7 years up to 4 weeks ago.

I bought a Logic Pro (€15) in spar (rechargeable & battery lasts 3-4 days each time). I also bought 3 cartridges (they're pre loaded so no messy liquids) for €7 (lasts 1-3 days depending, can get menthol of tobacco flavour, sold in spar, topaz, restore etc so you don't have to go to special shops - no excuses!). It's silver, it's handy and it looks less shit than the other ones.

I've researched the 'it's not proven to be any safer than smoking' debate a good bit. Factually e-cigs have 3 ingredients nicotine, water and propylene glycerol. Propylene glycerol is not dangerous in low dosage (like e-cig). It's not a new chemical and has been studied for years. The medical profession is advocated e-cigarettes over smoking. You're not taking in 1000's on chemicals and tar. You are of course still addicted to nicotene just as the many people still chewing nicorete gum are, years after quitting. Nicotine itself is again not harmful in these doses.

I feel 100 times better, not to mention richer!!

I say go for it. I haven't had a single cigarette since my first e-cig and I loved cigarettes.

Hope this is helpful.

OP, if you Google vapeclub they have premium eliquid and a short description of the flavours - if you like a sweet flavour then I would recommend mothers milk from suicide bunny - I'm currently on a citrus run and neon green slushy from far is the best lime flavour I've found - its all trial and error figuring out what's suits the palate
