I think its ok when youve been talking to someone for ages but otherwise no...wouldnt see a need to be so nosey with complete strangers but with people you half know in a chatting situation i never found a problem with it.

I think those questions are being ask out of the struggle to get some conversation going but are not necessarily the questions we want to hear. While I might answer some of them vaguely, there's this question that annoys me every time: any fun planed/had at the weekend? It's not of your business!!!

I never mind that question because the answer is usually...no. You.

The only personal one i might ask myself to a stranger could be where do you live, not the address, just roughly where abouts...and id say it would only be in the chatrooms or on kik that youd get to chatting at any depth with anybody though.

Some of the above questions are harmless as non specific answers usually suffice. I wouldn't like being asked where I work or about my family though. Sometimes conversations slow up so easy 'go to questions' like your examples get the chat running again. I only reveal personal stuff away from Fab and only after chatting for a while. I'm having a quiet weekend since you ask.

I don't meet to many people for different reasons and it's probably just me but I do like to have some sort of connection with anyone I meet. I don't need to know anything that would make someone traceable but I've no issues with people asking me what I work at or how I spend my spare time if I think there is a prospect of meeting. The idea of meeting someone based of a few pms and profile photos doesn't interest me. I know it's not a dating site but most of you lovely people have far more to give than your profile portrays that won't out you to the world. Everything in moderation while keeping you self safe

I think most people who ask these questions are just making small talk and mean no harm by it. They prob don't realise that they are asking personal questions. You only volunteer as much info as you are comfortable with .. If u genuinely seem to like the person, you can just make a joke about the line of questioning without anyone getting offended ... Totally agreed! I asked a guy once if he wanted my birth certificate! I state on my profile my private life is only my business! Once a guy asked me are you British born? I said to him what sex must to do with it! They say they trying to make conversation seriously? They put me off honestly! My answers are always vague .

If your chatting away I would consider them harmless, if you don't know them and are asking them questions in the 1st few messages then I wouldn't answer them

I assume it's men asking that question the most.....probably because very few of them get to meet anyone and are just wondering if meets do actually happen.

As for any plans for the weekend, well I send that one myself. Basically I want to know if it appropriate to ask for a meet.

If someone says they have no plans then I would ask for a meet. If they have plans, I don't ask about them, just wish them well and talk another time.

There's nothing sinister in it.
