Get in the car and drive... make an adventure out of it...sit down with them and get a map... sleep in a tent and get grub on the road... a boys adventure tour of anywhere you want to go....go see this beautiful country .. best of luck

Out in the sticks

Camping..plus a night or two in hostels is an option, some great hostels around, very reasonable and you meet people from all over the World.

There are cabins in cavan that were really good value and our kids loved them. When the wife gets home I will find out the name of the park

Camping is a definite option, easier with young kids than teens. Though when my kids were that age I used to stay in B&B's with them, a cheaper option than hotels.

Camping is the way to go

Just book ahead as not all caravan sites allow camping.

But make sure you have some decent kit

Air beds about a tenner each

Gas cooker as cheap as 12 quid in Halford or Aldi

Gas... 4 bottles for less than a tenner

And sleeping bags about 20 quid each or if you have room just bring duvets

And bring rain gear although you probably won't need it.... not!!

Check out Shannon-Erne Blueway

some great cycling/walking tracks along the waterway which should now be open to Lough Allen!

Depending on finances the Arigna Mines tour is well worth it, especially if it is a wet day!

Definitely not to young. I took my daughter camping when she was 6 weeks old!! She is now a mother and still loves it with her kids
