When you receive a wink from a profile is that actual person sending it or does the website generate random winks from one profile to another? Anyone know? I'm getting regular winks from the same people but no balls to actually talk properly

I think you can only wink once a month. We find it a great way of testing the water to see if there's any interest before sending a message etc. Saves everyone's time really!

I'd wink sometimes to test the waters, then if there's a wink back I'd send a message; if not, there's your answer .

Can be a quick way to not waste anyone's time or show a little admiration .

If you're not a fan best to never delete them, like friend requests.

I'd imagine the website likes to get involved from time to time and send winks from my experience. Getting loads but no talkies. I might have to start blocking

Don't respond to wink's and I bulk delete. I prefer contact and will wink at the end of a sentence but that's about it

I like receiving them. But I rarely, if ever send them. My thinking is that women receive so many messages anyway that a wink isn't really going to make me stand out of the crowd for them.

I'd never send a wink as I believe it comes across as lazy on the man's behalf but I do appreciate when I receive a wink. I just always see them as a compliment from a woman or couple though and not necessarily an invitation to start a chat.

I just assume if a woman or couple is interested in my profile they will at least say "hi".

Maybe I'm wrong and have missed a few opportunities to make contact.

Ah well.......

We use it as a way to say we are interested, If we get a wink back we will send a mail, if not move on personally I think it saves time for both parties.

I just hate that if the person has restrictions, winks are also blocked

Winks are strange. If someone interesting winks at us, we might wink back. But a message is so much better. We always message someone if we are interested in them.

More strange are the friend requests without an accompanying message.

Not at all.

Some may like them, some may not; like any other aspect of the site. However, they offer people a different means to approach someone they like.

Just because someone isn't the best at writing a first message that doesn't necessarily mean they don't have anything interesting to say. So sending a wink for some is a way to test the waters, show an interest and be a possible ice breaker.

I don't agree that all winks are lazy, just whatever works for you

OK, I admit it! I'm a winker. Scratch that. I'm a big winker (change vowel as desired).

It's from years of similar sites doing the same thing, condition us to use a wink as a How are you? I winked at you. Check my profile and if you find it interesting, wink back or chat.

It's not derogatory, it's purely a Hey I like the look of your profile/pic and might be interested if you are interested in mine.

No drama.

No bullshit.
