It goes in cycles though. I recall a time a couple of years ago when every single thread was a heated debate and rows and ructions were the order of the day, with all sorts of abusive stuff being flung around the place. Every day someone else got a lifetime ban until eventually it all calmed down and everything became fairly sterile. Then the numbers using the forum dropped off until people started getting brave again. We may now have crossed another peak but it certainly wasn't as bad as it had been a few years back.

It always tends to quieten down in the summer months though. Peeps with kids don't log in as much and holidays and that kinda thing. There is an awful lot of "regulars" not posting as much any more which is a pity as their posts are always good to read
