Always happens, usually as a reply to when I politely decline their offer. I've met guys all shapes and sizes. I think the ability to have a conversation and a laugh is much more of a turn on than a 6pk for me personally (if they have both all the better haha). Anyways, some girls are partial to bear types, me included

Realistically, youll probably struggle unless you go to these social things where you try and let your personality do the work instead. Men are so plentiful in here that it is a survival of the fittest, women can pick and choose from far more of a selction than they may be able to in general life so it might be a bit of a slog for you im afraid chief

So it's pretty easy for some to say ffs get over it but they probably aren't the people sitting at home struggling to get a meet or have the support of a partner here. That said I think you are slightly misguided OP, fat shaming isn't turning someone down because of their body type. That's just human nature, we want the best we can get, simple's.

It takes experience and a dash of cop on to realise body shape has little to do with being a great swinger or person in general. You can be a total snarky arse hole and a six pack or keg won't change that

There will always be body shaming unfortunately here as people get too caught up in voicing their preferences and as a bi product others feel like they are victim of body shaming because they are the opposite to the opinion being expressed. I've been called fat, bbw and over weight - in person and over email. And on the flip side met peeps who said I was better then in my pics and I was tiny!

In general it's probably the ego of the person abusing you that's overweight. I've been the fat kid and adult and taken the abuse over years and when you have no one sitting beside you to tell you your grand just how you are it's a bastard of an is a insult to take.

Age makes the skin a little thicker and a lot of the people above are well worth listening to. Since I started here if I've learned one thing, personality will get you more meets than a ripped body

i have met some stunning looking people , and i mean stunning like they could have stepped off the cover of vogue , but they had the personality of watching paint dry on a gable end wall

so the fascination and attraction was very short lived due to them being all wrapped up in ...well ..themselves ! I have also met some very average looking people who absolutely blew me away when i got to know them , so dont ever judge on looks alone , you would be making a mistake .

For me it was at parties and meet and greets that you can see what people really go for and im afraid it defo is looks to top it as it fit for guys and slim for ladies , i was always sitting watching and noticed that i wasnt getting many people over chatting to us , due to me being over weight, so ive decided to loose all that weight , ive lost almost 3 stone now and ive more to loose , but lets see what socials and parties bring now , id love to be proven wrong .

I'm perfect! Perfect at finding my own flaws. We all have mirrors and we all know what we look like. Reality is most of us want to look better but confident people will make the most of what they have. We all also have our own tastes. So sometimes the look of someone is just not for you. Truth be told a strong, good personality will almost always win over any body shape, it becomes invisible with time as personality dictates desire. Just sayin. lol

Body shaming is not on no matter what shape you are. People who feel the need to do so normally lack in character and often have another set of problems and you wouldn't want to meet them.

Regarding meets and swinging, by the end of the day it all boils down to each individual person's preferences. However looks do come into place much more then loads of people here admit. We're constantly bombarded by the media how the perfect beauty and body shape looks like and this picture is burned deep into our brains. While attraction is multifaceted, it's the first few seconds of an first encounter where we check out a person consciously or unconsciously and there's very little else we humans can go on than the looks. If interest is sparked we then decide to go for further exploration.

When you're at the pub or party and you don't know the people you visually check them out and you approach those ones that tickle your mind. We all do it. The same is with a fab profile, the first impression is crucial.

So to conclude a fit or toned body most likely will help you to make first contacts but it doesn't necessarily secure you more meets because you're found out quickly when there's nothing behind the good looking facade.

It speaks volumes about the person its coming from and their mindset, and really who finds that kind of thinking attractive? Certainly not me! And lastly, it will only upset you if their opinion matters at all. If not, look at it for what it is, an "opinion" given with the intention of upsetting you to make them feel more superior !

I'm a bit late to the party, I know, but I wanted to throw my twopenneth in.

As the biggest guy that I'uve seen on here so far (19st), and having been overweight my whole life (21st at my biggest), I'd say that I have some perspective on the subject.

I'm big and having been shamed many, many times in my life it still makes me sad.

You get the picture. It's true. I'm currently three times more likely to develop diabetes, five times more likely to have a heart attack and almost infinitely more likely to be laughed at for fat related shenanigans.

All the fat shamers, ever, were right. I am a fat bastard.

That's reasonable me. The little me on the inside feels like shit every time it's pointed out. Not because of the fact that it's true, but because I know it and haven't done anything about it yet. I know I'm fat. My wife knows I'm fat. My son. My parents, the neighbours, my doctor, etc, etc, etc...

Fat shamers may be correct but fat shamers are not right. It's usually a horrible way for someone to feel like they've got one up on someone; pointing out someone elses' flaws. They are the same people that laugh at burn victims and disabled children (that's a generalisation due to my ebbing mood, but probably right).

I've found that simply saying "Yeah, I know." or sarcastically exclaiming "FUCK ME! I hadn't realised. Thanks for telling me!" is normally enough to throw them off or stop the joke in it's tracks.

Mostly, ignore it. You know what your strengths and weaknesses are. Work out a way to play to your good bits and, in the meantime, better your not-so-good bits.

I also don't take my own advice.

People who try and make you feel bad for how you look may have been too shallow anyway, so no loss. Most people are willing to give personality a chance despite looks.

I took it to mean when you get a message out of the blue that says something along the lines of:

"Wow! You're f**king fat. You might as well quit now."

Others seem to be saying that it's more like a reply to you, along the lines of:

"No thanks. I don't do fat people."

The first is fat shaming, the second is a reasonable response, despite lacking subtlety and etiquette. There's no shaming in the second example.

See what you have to understand in here, is that certain people revel in the chance to experience that faux-outrage thats so popular these days. As a result, words like 'rudeness' and 'bullying' appear on a regular basis where a logical person may just see 'discussion' or 'opinion'. Your logic, while flawless, will just fall on deaf ears of those who need to be offended on a daily basis

Same with smoking. Neither of us like it, and it's something that turns us off. I've said as much but I'm polite in my replies though and most people appreciate that. Am I a smoker shamer now? Not sure...

I didn't know there was anything to figure out there and didn't read the whole thread....but this thread isn't about that is it, heard maybe she said something before I joined and got banned for it, but I don't know what she said and I'd definitely put her in the nice people category.

I don't think the point is turning someone down because they are fat. The point is that it's used here to degrade someone, mostly in the forums. There's nothing wrong with having preferences. It's trying to shake people because of their weight thats the problem.
