"Ct scan the same as an mri " It's not. A ct is like a big polo mint that goes over your head it only takes detailed images of your brain and skull.. A mri is a tunnel and can be quiet claustrophobic and sometimes they offer relaxers as it can take some time,a mri scans your entire body from the neck down...it again takes detailed images of your body but using magnet technology.

"CT scans are not only performed on the head." That's what it's usually used as when it's being a routine ct. In emergency medicine it can be used for the entire body yes but I doubt greatly the op has had a catastrophic accident and needs one do you.

OK time to annoy now lol had either a ct or mri. They were looking at my brain but didn't put me in a polo it was a long tube thing. Which one was it? Cause I could of swear they said mri but from what you said sounds a bit like a ct scan.

It can also look at your brain but it gives detailed readings of your fluids in your brain, that connect to your spine.

" Looking for brain damage. Didn't find any." If they were looking for brain damage it must have been because of a accident, a bleed or a illness in that case yes they would have had to look at your entire body. I'm glad things worked out for you

"Has anyone had one and wat was it like " Mary, it's the male half here. I've had seven CT. Five mri. The nerves will disappear after you lie down and let it happen on your first one. The lead up, I won't lie is anxious. That said, just remember that when you are lying down, it's over before you know it. Best of luck and you'll be fine. T. PS....bernie15, read our profile. You'll see why

"A ct it looks like a big polo mint... It's not at all claustrophobic like a mri... You just need to lie still and they may put like a strap on your head its not tight or uncomfortable or just use pillow blocks to make sure you don't move your head from side to side... It makes a noise but sometimes you can bring earphones and listen to some music... Best of luck and hope it's all good.. " I've had quite a few of both ct and mri scans. This description is the best for ct - a huge polo mint - and it's not claustrophobic at all Good luck OP!

"It's a little noisy but they give you ear protection. Piece of cake. Broke my lower ribs and had a ct scan " That begs the question: Having broken your lower ribs were you then able to reach your cock with your mouth?

"Reading through responses here. It was a fairly simple question about a procedure that scares the shit out of a lot of people. Why go into such horrid detail and scare the OP even more? It was a question based on what the operational procedures are. Not what was wrong with you, why you needed it, and also nothing to do with the scary things you encountered. It's A simple procedure. It's over quickly but the nerves are there. Simple. Necessary evil for some people. It's gotta be done...... it's just scary the first time. There's nothing to be afraid of. Scaremongering the OP with horror stories is not on."
