"After the high turnout in Galway for the darkness into light suicide awareness...now is the time to get the momentum going Tomorrow morning it be all forgotten about. Far too many young guys in Galway affected by this issue including guys in my neighbourhood. Sick of this stigma people with mental health issues being frowned upon as oh you be grand or snap out of it. The society's way of have a drink and you get over it. All these Galway lads turning to negative permanent solutions for a temporary problem. Only way I can invision politicians standing up and talking serious steps towards this is if a member of their own family is affected by this mental storm that is causing havoc in every city town in Ireland. Yes this platform is a swingers site and yes im usually the lion character but I hate to admit it theres people here who battle demons including me late last year and no its not me fishing for likes but its to prove that them horrible obstacles can be climbed and conquered. Talk to someone its not a sign of weakness I done it and its the first step and now im a great place in life work home and social . Now I go back to reality with the faces of neighbours and their lost sons memory ingraved on their faces. Galway can't afford to lose any more of its young men Thank you "

"Hugs xoxo your right it took a economic downturn to bring the problem to light in this country. Nearly every family in Ireland has known someone or has had to bury someone belonged to them from suicide. The mental health and well being of the country has been overlooked way too long. Only this week a women my age was pulled out of the Boyne. Hopefully the government start listening and actually caring. " Far to many have been taken out of the Boyne since the downturn.. Every time I hear the helicopter overhead at night, my fears tend become reality. I lost a lot as a result of the downturn too, could've went either way, but picked myself up and dusted myself down and faced things .. 4 years on, changed career, and loving life. What I'm trying to say I guess is that if people would only realise how temporary their problems are, they may not take that ultimate final step, which is permanent!

This is a sad but true fact & having a stigma attached to feeling depressed & suffering from anxiety or any mental illness is a sure fire way to ensure that things will only get worse before they get better. That being said there is always a way out of the dark times & as tough as it can be talking to those who care about your worries it can help so fucking much. More often than not people (men especially) feel showing or telling someone how they feel is "weak" in some way & they fear feeling vulnerable to some extent I would imagine. Though hard to overcome, by doing so (talking to someone about your problems) you will find yourself in a much better place mentally & on the road to being well again. I tip my hat to you Mr. Lion, in yet another way you have made this forum a good positive place! Your "regular" posts are great and offer a lighthearted approach to this whole lifestyle & this post is just as valuable as it offers a discussion on this platform for something very important indeed!
