My father was d best n I always will miss him but he died but got a good death I think but never really got to say good bye that was d worse thing for me . My poor mum did not get d same death she took 2 months to die unlike my dad he just lay back in d chair n died .

Ooh I cried my eyes out at my mums n dads funerals n if u don't cry I there is something wrong with u . If I'was that op I would make up with his dad cos he will regret it if he does not .

Sometimes we forget that our parents arent here forever .. everyone is guilty of taking them for granted me included .. should make an effort to give them a little more of our time while we have them x

Both my parents have passed on..... my dad in 2003 & my mother in 2013...... I have said everything I wanted to say to both my parents, told them I loved them, they said same back..... they have bought told how proud they were of me.... It's lovely to have heard it from them...... these are the things you remember & appreciate when they have gone from this world......

..... so, if I were you OP, I would go and phone your dad, tell him you want to talk, to air things out...... I promise you, you'll be glad you did in the end.... It's never too late ok. Xxx

I never got to say goodbye to my father he died suddenly one weekend while i was traveling to see him as he was only out of hospital

"Don't it always seem to go, you don't know what you've got till it's gone".....

I never got on with my dad, we fought all the time, and sometimes it came to blows. He was sick for a long time before dying, and while we never really talked about our past, we managed to put it to rest. It's important to make your peace, while you can.

Lost my father just shot of my 8 birthday, wow 30 years ago next month, often wonder what my life would be like if he had not died,was chatting with him at 5.30 am he was gone by 10 am,can't tell anyone else what to do,but would love to be able to have a chat with him but never going to happen,

We got married in 2012.

My dad left my mother when I was 2.

Believe it or not, I remember washing his car....or at least participating haha....when I was that age.

At our wedding, 30+ years later with little or no contact with him, my nan and grandad gave me a card and champagne from my father.

The card said that he was sorry.....queue my years.

It then said he'd love me to come visit him in America...as a wedding gift and basically it was making amends.

We went on our first anniversary and well......it was the best thing I ever did.

I am trying to echo a comment above.

Do it while you can.

I was angry and stubborn for thirty plus years because he left.

Myself and dad cried and hugged.

Seize the day my friend.

I have friends who have lost parents from many different circumstances and regretted not saying they loved them one last time.

I tell mymother every day.

I haven't seen my dad in over a year and I haven't spoken to him in 3. He's a horrible man who was a horrible husband and father.

I tried for years to get along with him but he wasn't interested. The last time we spoke we both said horrible things to each other, the worst was him calling my son who autism horrible things like stupid and retarded. I cut him completely out of my life.

I've gotten a hard time from my brother and sister over it but they haven't lived in Ireland for years and haven't had to deal with him. Finally my mam divorced him 2 years ago and they sold their house and she bought herself an apartment.

I will never let him in my life again and I've made peace with it. He's one of those people who should have never of gotten married or had kids because he prefers to be alone and is selfish.

I've a friend who has a brilliant relationship with her dad and can't understand mine. I can't understand her's and find it weird. It's sad really but it is what it is. He's missing out on some great times with his grandkids.

Never knew my dad he died before my fourth birthday, my mum is a tough woman really controlling and a confidence knocker. Love her to bits but so glad I moved away to live my life when I see how she interferes in my siblings lives and how they raise their kids.

I was lucky to have the most amazing dad if carlsberg made dads it was mine. He never raised his voice or his hand to any of us, he gave us loads of love and support, never judged and always made me feel happy with his little songs, big smile and jokes. The only regret I have was thinking that all men were like my dad, I'd be lucky to meet someone who was half the man he was.

...mate im sorry to hear that ,really am,I lost my brother a few years back ,its shit ,its gas ,complete strangers talkn about this ,,hope your doing ok mate

I have lost both my parents.

I never got the chance to say good bye to my dad .

But I was with my mum till the end

And still remember her last words to me.

She said I wasn't a bad son but she wasn't saying I was a good one either.

Reading this just brought a few tears to my eyes,my dad passed away when I was 13 and I'd give anything just to hear him give me another hug or hear his chuckle...

My mum the polar opposite she was more like the enforcer,but we had a amazing relationship especially after my dad died! Sadly she left me when I was 20...and 25 yrs later I still miss her so much it hurts...

Littleman you are dead right. It just shows that we are good, real, normal people. We all have problems, we all have issues, and the stinking media can't see this. We are all human. We just lead a different lifestyle. A chosen lifestyle. Simple.

You've read the stories that people have let us see.

Some good, some sad, and some were inspirational.

In all honesty, this is the best thread on the FAB forum that I have seen in ages.............

No bad mouthing, slagging, bitching etc.

Real life experiences and not feeling judged.

I have a 17 year old son and I try to keep him honest as that's the way my parents taught me. Some times he doesn't like being told stuff but there some rules in life. My folks were tough but very fair and we talk regularly. They're good grandparents. Will hate to see them go. Tissue please

Well folks, I came back from the Galway event last night and woke up this morning to the news that a very good friend of mine was found dead in his bed.

Life is too short. He was 34.

I never got to say goodbye. While this thread may seem morbid to some, it puts a lot of things into perspective.

I'm a firm believer in living every day like its your last.

Fab is fab. Great friends!

My dad passed away 20 from cancer in florida we still miss him.
