My daughter turns 13 this week and has asked for grand theft auto! She's responsible enough but does anyone have kids that play this game and if so is it really that bad ? I haven't a clue all I play is Zelda lol

Oooh ya it can be bad, but depending on what console you get it on I think there's an option to turn off the blood and swearing, don't think she'll turn into a serial killer from it tho

I just found the heist last night..never knew it was there lol...oh yeah too young...but they love it... there always asking to play "the people game" mammy's much more strict than daddy though

The way it works is as follows

The brain is a collection of electrical pathways, as more signals get sent along a pathway the path grows. This then becomes the quickest route for the electricity in your mind that sparks thoughts.

When you allow a child to play a violent game a spark moves from the violent to happy part of the brain. If it repeats over and over it can become the norm for a child to grow into a person who associates violence with happiness.

The amount of children that develop a problem due to this is small, very small, a lot of children can develop perfectly normal while playing/watching violent stuff, their brain simply understands it as fantasy, some wont understand it as fantasy.

At 18 your pathways in your brain are largely set. You can change them but it requires more work.

This is why some people say "well i grew up watching horrors and it did me no harm"..

True, but it, or something similar harmed the psyopath guy that beats his gf etc.

So what it boils down to is, it will probably be fine for them, but it might damage them, only you can really gauge if it will be a problem or not.

GTA is pretty violent, I mean you can pick up a prostitute, bring her to have sex with her, then murder her to get your money back.
