Was thinking on another party in June but holding it in Belfast ? Either yoga , uv party , 80s , grease , superheroes , priests and hoes or flapper ? Help??

Is no theme an option? Personally I think it's unnecessary and just adds cost to people who will probably be spending a bit to just attend.

I get that themes are fun however some people just don't feel comfortable in fancy dress.... people are more relaxed in their normal "going out" clothes

Yeah but eBay may not cater for larger ladies.... I mean I'm a size 18 and a normal fancy dress costume wouldn't cover my ass so god help anyone bigger than me.

With superheroes you could maybe put a twist on it like 'create your own superhero' complete with original backstory.

Might make for some good ice breakers

Can we put our 2 cents worth. We have done many fancy dress parties and we always get same feedback "they are great but can be an added cost" or "do we have to". So we always make it non compulsory and if u keep it to large theme people can go as mad or as minimal as they want. For example if u went for a 80's theme those that arent comfortable can just go with big hair and big earrings and those more comfortable can pull off a madonna or a miami vice style. Hope this helps hun.

I love the themed events ( as can be seen in my pics!) but appreciate they're not for all

As _oandwex say, make it clear it's not compulsory and then everyone should be happy

Did i miss when the party is on ... I like themed and non themed but themed adds the element of fun ... And gives one the opportunity to break the ice ue love your costume .. I have quiet a collection in a year lol flapper ... Burlesque ... Back to school ... Viking ... And am going to a masquerade one in the uk end of april and a beach theme also

Just an suggestion for you.

An ABC party? Anything but Clothes.

People show up with homemade costumes made from whatever they come up with.

Cardboard box with suspenders, a very creative cut up garbage bag, duct tape bras.....etc. Togas don't count.

Whatever the imagination can come up with to be sexy and fun.

I agree with this. I'm not a fan of themed socials so I avoid them. The only exception I make is for Halloween but at these you can still choose what to wear. So in essence you pick your own theme.

I've a feeling I'm in the minority with this view of themes though

whatever you choose I'm sure people will be happy with it.
