Just curious know the avarage price too get a cv joint done on car 00 Renault megane cleary I know sweet Adams about it lol cheers ste

My best advice is to supply the cv joint yourself. Ring around local motor factors and get the best price. Eurocarparts have an online system that is great for parts.. You just type I your reg and it will give you the correct part. As for fitting your talking a few hours labour at worst.

ouch few hours work dam it haha I wouldn't even know where too start lol. But got a quote for 2 shocks plus the cv joint priced at 350 dunno if that's too dear or too cheap

Price the parts first and take it from there.. You could save yourself at least £100 IMO. Worth a try

Ask for breakdown of work i.e. parts and labour. You can see if you can save a bit of money buying the parts yourself.

Don't think that's off the mark, parts will be around 150 to 200, throw in a couple of hours work and wheel alignment after changing shocks and changing cv joint and you're reaching the 350 mark frighteningly fast...

300 too 350 sounds about right considering parts and work but like above try get the parts yourself that way you could reduce it too about 150 etc try some scrap yards etc

Cv joint is €39 if you buy it yourself. A garage will tell you it's €80.

With a lift it's an hours work, no more. You should get your wheels alinged but most don't bother unless the feel a savage pull. €100 labour from a decent mechanic but a dealership will charge you double. Really us a case of shopping around and always always always ask how much if you supply the parts

Go to your local motor factors they usually have a list of good mechanics names and numbers...

Get spurious parts as main dealers can cost a fortune..

You won't save much buying parts yourself as most mechanics get 40 % trade discount and just charge retail price,but your looking at

CV joint €40

2 shocks €90

3 hours work €180

Then tracking and probably other broken bits( top mounts shock boots) etc so budget €350- €400

Is the joint complety fucked.if not fit a new cv joint boot fill with grease and away you go.seen a lot of vw.s with the cv joint making a cracking sound at full lock of steering reason being

Boot was wore grease had escaped out.if got in time new boot would sort the problem

Buy a second hand drive shaft from the scrap yard. It takes half an hour Max, to fit it. It should only cost you about £50 all in. 2 shocks are about £40 each and half an hour to fit each. All in it should be less than £200. Hope this helps you

I sourced parts for my car myself. It saved me a little fortune. There many car part sites such as micksgarage or misterauto. You'll quick get a sense for the part prices once you look them up. The tricky bit is to buy the right ones. I wouldn't buy scrap yard parts for suspension.

You've got to find yourself a guy. A mechanic that you can trust and rely on. See if any of your mates have a guy. You need a guy for loads of different things. Good luck in finding your guy.

Any idea what "fuel system malfunction" is?

Came up on the screen today.

Showing I have no fuel in the tank but it's full.

Hoping it's just a faulty relay.

Fun4too...yee probably drive a diesel. ..Low tank would mean yee need diesel additive. ..its a separate tank that helps can diesel carbon build up....local garage can sort it..slightly expensive at around 80 euros for a litre but it will last a few years

Other newer blue motion cars have a blue fluid treatment. .u can fill this yer selves and can be got in most filling stations
