Sneaky colleague

Hi all - advice please ! I have a work colleague who thinks he's clever texting me gossip about other colleagues abd particularly about someone who I like and who I work with. He'a also friendly with her. Of course, wirh everyone, he's all like "Don't tell him/her I said this, but..." A thoroughly horrible character but seems ro have pulled the wool over a few people's eyes- I.e. they don't see through him ! Pretty sure he is doing the same to me behind my back too. How do I make it clear to other people that he's a complete backstabber ? Any ideas very welcome !

Best to ignore.

But if you want to get involved just tell others what he told you about them. But be prepared to go down with the sinking ship.

Try not to involve yourself in workplace politics is the best advice I can think of.

Failing that...

Chinese whispers? Feed him a bullshit story, make sure everyone knows its a fib. Then just sit back and let him burn

Well that's the rub. I want THEM to know how he's been running them down (and using me in the process) but I don't want him to know anything about me telling them.

And what are we but agents of karma ?;-) Srsly - I know what ye mean and thanks - but this guy is such a sh*t-stirrer that he needs to be brought to heel. He has his knives in everyone and just uses people for information and talks behind their back.

I think we've all had this or a similar situation happen in a work or social situation . This kind of person feeds on gossip and shite. . Don't feed the beast ! Honestly. , take a step back. ! If you have to talk to this person , talk about the weather , what your going to gave for lunch , the fact that you're going to get you car tax done on your lunch break. ,,,, anything but personal information. !!! Tell them nothing ! They will use personal info and twist it round , and say nothing about anyone else . This kind of person is poison. !!! Don't engage. !

Grab a set of balls!! Tell this person that you don't want to hear this kind of crap anymore. Also add that they are talking about a friend of yours and you'd appreciate if they refrained from talking about your friends like that. Also make it clear that any conversation from now on should be professional. You could also say, "if you've nothing good to say, don't say it at all" problem solved.

Agree I had to remove myself from something pretty much the same last year they use any bit of information and twist it to suit themselves including something as innocent as going to the toilet at the same time. Best steer clear and avoid the person. The rest will see in time

Thank fcuk we don't get this type of shit on building sites..or at least I've never come across it.
