"Is probably one of the most frustrating things in life any tips other than looking in the north and across the water " Depending on your budget and year car you are looking for i would head to south uk not the north . It due to bad weather and salt on the roads and rust under the car. I would rather buy from a dealer in the uk than private just for peace of mind. I have done it a few times . Just plan it right and make sure to book a return flight just in case you dont buy cos its ripoff to book in the airport to come home lol .

I called them all and asked what I needed to know about the cars and did some price haggling and told them it was for export. So when you get there you already have an idea on the price of the car and can the haggle a little more when there . But if your not happy walk away and go look at one of the other car's in the area you checked out .

Captured a lovely top of the range 405 GTRD the excise hadn't even seen it here before tried charging for extras as in a/c, tinted,Windows, alloys I had to get the manufacturing spec for the car to get it cleared at a reasonable rates well worth the trip

" It cost me about €300 in total to get the car home cheep flight to london diesel in the car and ferry home saturday morning left about 2or3am . Went over on a friday morning cos i didn't work Saturdays . You go over and back in the same day or as i did , drive to the port and sleep in the car for a few hours for the next boat . Oh and btw i saved €9,000 on the price of the car compared to what they where selling for here even after paying €5800 in VRT . So i think it was wort spending the €300 to pick it up and the road trip to

"I've had a vxr astra in arden blue. Great car great power wasnt the best of drives tho. Didn't find service kits that expensive as do my own work. Most my cars have been out of England. Normally around Manchester, London and Southampton. If your budget allows go England. Better roads and cars are usually serviced in main dealers with genuine parts. Got my sister a mini cooper in England and was roughly 2700 cheaper than here for same car." I think a trip could be on the cards so. Ya I like the astra but something about the corsas is intriguing me
