Arab...

Hi guys

I just noticed that from chatting some people here, they go silent once they know that I'm an Arab, even though they were interested before.

Do we really have that bad repetition, or what?

Sad to say but Ireland is quite a monocultural country. But I think if people don't you, your gonna have to work a bit harder to gain friendship. If they don't like you if your an Arab then they aren't worth your friendship. Good luck lad.

Dublin

Add your Arabic background into the information in your profile txt and then people can decide for themselves? It will avoid you feeling this way.

"No it's ok mate. I just wanted to know what local people think about Arabs.

It's very simple, it's like the rest of humanity. Like any other ethnicity Arabs as a group can be split up in three broad categories.

There's sound Arabs, indifferent Arabs and cunts of Arabs. The only way for people to find out what category an individual belongs in is by getting to know a person a wee bit better.

around and about ,as travel.

Rather than saying you're an Arab , which unfortunately groups all middle east countries in the the same group.

just put your country of origin.

Arab men generally follow Arab values when is far more restrictive than their European counterparts. So while you might be dead on Arabs most certainly do have a bad reputation. It's not deserved for the most post but if you are wondering if it's an issuse then dispell that myth about you personally in your profile. Talk about respect, Your views on certain things which you think you might be judged on. Tackle it head on and people will respect you for it.

There was a thread on gut feeling here yesterday in which people can only judge someone on their background or what they know about them and unfortunately Arab culture is still a couple of hundred years in the past when it comes to morals and respect for human life and civil freedoms. My gut feeling would tell me to avoid unless that person let me have a better view of their personal belief's.

I admire the fact that you even asked the question but I have to keep in mind that someone like me would face prison or worse for my life choices in Arab countries.

Surely the fact that he is on a swing site would dispel your fear that he follows those Arab values..

Ie , lack of respect for others and freedom?

The fact that he's on a swing site has no relevance to his views on respecting others. I could show you my inbox here from the last week which would eave you in no uncertainty that being on a swing site does not come hand in hand with tolerance.

It's brilliant if the OP does mention respect and his profile in my view is pretty good. But he did ask why some might find being Arab an issuse and I suspect he probably already knows why it would be. I just spelled it out like he asked

Exactly, it does not come hand in hand with how guys actualy treat others.

Yet, around the world Irish men are still in some quarters viewed as beer swlling, chauvtanist louts.

Yet had one Irish guy posed the same question, woukd he be treated differently to the OP.

Surely if other members are not capable of seeing past his nationality, then sadly that is their problem not his..

Not you I might stress

Your points are great...

Maybe you have had bad luck, we had a 3way with an Arab guy, sound lad great craic, and like every guy we met here so far, showed herself a good time and respected the fact we are a couple.

Also met a few at m&g's, again no issues whatsoever.

So as I said, you probably just had bad luck.

LONDON

I lived and worked in Saudi for a number of years and met some lovely lovely people out there. They aren't that far off us really most of the blokes I knew had 2 mobiles one for family the other for boyfriends/girlfriends. Affairs going on left right and centre as they'd only go with married women as a girl has to be a Virgin when she gets married so to get round that single Arab girls used to take it up the bum!! Just my experience of living there.

Well, thank you so much guys. Your responses show me that the problem is not about ethnicity, It's just the fact that some people are close minded.

Thankfully I'm bi, and gay guys find being an Arab is a bonus.

Happy swinging folks

Xx

No, a genuine question as I don't have any Arabian friends.
