Had a 405 in the Ninetys with Dodgy starter used go with the tap of a hammer, the missus used get some looks high heels short skirt painted nails lifting the bonnet with a hammer in her hand

It wasn't that I wouldn't fix it but I used love seeing her bend over that bonnet

Yea starter or fuel pump...depending on the car could be an alternator or a belt problem but def one of those if its not the battery and you have fuel...

Love it! We had one that had a blue nylon rope holding the bonnet on. Then after one windy night on the quays we had a car with no bonnet...

Hit the starter motor with a hammer a few times

Do make sure it's the starter motor you're hitting though

It sounds like it's the starter motor from what you have written but have you got like rac cover because they can come and check it out for you x

Fuel pump I'd say.

I'd firstly jump it and see if it starts.

If it's a clicking noise and no sound of the engine attempting to start it's most likely the starter in which case the car will go with a push and keep driving until you turn it off.

If it's the alternator it won't stay going for long.

The drop in temperature puts a further strain on your all the electrical components mentioned above.

It's a new car so it's the fan and just let the heater run for a while and the smell will go !

I'm not a mechanic and I'm not going to pretend to know anything about cars. Just the basics. I rely on my local garage keeping me right. However....for an ass as sweet as yours, I'd happily drive the hour and a half to Dublin to give you a lift. In exchange for a coffee. Anytime OP.

If it's making no attempt to start then it's not the fuel pump. It should still turn over. Are there any lights on the dash board, warning lights or error's. Mind if I ask how you know it's not the battery ?

Even a brand new battery will lose its charge after a week of the alternater isn't recharging it. Have you tried charging it or boosting. Your insurance company more than likely provides a breakdown service and the car often tell you what the issuse is but they won't fix it.

Unless you know a mechanic the best thing to do is put on a very tight low cut top and yoga pants. Go to the nearest garage and ask the to plug it into a diagnostic laptop, dont forget to

Oldest trick in the book for a sticky starter, also works great to get it out of gear when the clutch is fucked..

sounds like the flux capacitor is dying on it, pull out the giggle pin in your fuse box and see if it helps
