It depends on your palette and what you like yourself, theres so many red wines available so id say try them all til you find one you like...(not all in the same night though)

Thanks for an advice. As far as I know, wine doesn't have to be expensive to taste nice

Its all matter of natural sugar in grapes and few other factors

But thank you for being helpful

I love red wine and it is true, some of the cheaper ones are just as nice as the expensive!!

I do love a bottle of vacqueyras and also grapevine Merlot from aldi... Both gorgeous

There's a red wine in tescos. French called chateau de mezain. It's my fav. It's normally €20 but every so often goes on offer at half price. That's when I stock up on it

Try Buckfast! It's a tonic wine lol aka 'Lurgan champagne'!!

Seriously though your pallet will most likely change as you try different reds. I'm not a fan of Merlot any more. I used to love Shiraz but wouldn't touch it now! Cab sav is a sure bet for starting on or a nice Malbec. Chile seems to produce a good mid range of Malbec wines around £6-£8. Although if you don't like it just stick to white!

I'm not a wine connoisseur but I was told if you open a bottle of wine and it smell of alcohol as opposed to the flagrant fruit. It's not a good wine.
