I think you were being wound up Op,but i did hear wearing an ankle bracelet on the left ankle means "taken" and the right ankle " single".An old wives tale id say.I wear them on my left during the summer months cos its more comfortable and i use them as a fashion accessory.

Yes it is in the circles of those who know. I had one (lost it when my stockings were passionately ripped off me) but they seem to be unknown in Ireland as you can tell from all the above posts. A proper swinger or cuckold couple would recognise it for what it is though. Which could lead to problems in Ireland since nobody seems to know and just wear an ankle chain as a nice piece of jewelry.

There was a U.S. company who make adult vids who had a series of "hot wife" films and in this series the "hot wives" bought or were given an ankle bracelet to show what they were. Sounds like some people bought into it. But people have been saying things like that for years about anklets. The Egyptians & Indians have worn them for thousands of years for decoration, that's all they are.

Decoration unless we attribute meaning to them. Diamonds were a worthless rock until we decided they meant something. Same as a bracelet, a crown or a badge. It's society that decodes its meaning. If a community decides a certain ankle bracelet is a secret code for a hotwife than it is so...but that doesn't mean anyone wearing one buys into it.

I know many submmissives would wear a ankle bracelet if a collar could not be worn for whatever reason (work dress code etc) as well as women in cuckhold relationships. I always thought of it as more of a mainland Europe or American thing to be honest.

Lol, I think the greater meaning behind this was to so stop young children from picking up combs in the street and spreading lice.
