Has anybody read the Irish Independent article about the gorgeous Eastern European girl blackmailng guys in Cork? She's met them on a social media site! He went on camera and she threatened to expose it, was it here????

I don't think so. The article mentioned a social media caller app I think. It also mentioned the person being blackmailed checked in so I think it was on facebook or something linked to facebook

I've heard of this happening on another site, where the man on cam was recorded, but I always thought it was an empty threat. Apparently it's not. I've seen it happen on Facebook.

I hate cameras, I'd never go on cam, but now there's an even better reason not to.

I remember a guy on another site a few years back telling me he had been blackmailed in this way, I'm sure it's common enough.

If you want to cam then just make sure your face and body aren't on cam at the same time unless you really trust them. Same as pics. Seperate face pics and body pics. It's not foolproof but it helps.

Its also a tactic used by the newspapers themselves - they know most single guys are either married or dating or at the very least worried what their mammy thinks and so threaten them to get intel on what they want. Its part of the way the story outing the GAA player was sourced.

Everything digital is capable of capture. Webcam is inherently unsafe.
