Can Accommodate?

What exactly does this mean? In our case it means that anyone invited to our home will be given hospitality: refreshments, a meal, convivial conversation. If everyone 'clicks' we play. If not, at least we will offer bed and breakfast.

Are we the only ones with this interpretation?

maybe there should be different degrees of accommodation? So we have some idea of what it might entail?

on the hill NordWest of

Accommodate means to me the person offers accommodation for the duration of the meet and not necessarily a bed to stay overnight.

I think terms and conditions have to be worked out and precisely phrased for each meet in order to avoid and confusion/assumption etc.

I would take the term 'can accommodate' loosely to indicate that the person in question has a suitable place to play .....never a given as to a sleepover ...lol

Well, obviously not everyone takes us up on all the above. Some go home at the end of the evening...

To me it means a place to 'have fun'! If the person wants some all night fun then so be it! If not then so be that too.

Wow! That's very accommodating indeed!

To me "can accommodate" means we can play at my place.

Terms and conditions would anyways have to be worked out of course.. But generally a stay over is never included (for us anyway )

I always assume it's just a case that the person/persons have a free place for play only, i would never look for an overnight stay, even if it went into the early hours, unless they wanted an early morning encore, well then it's their call

What about when it comes to hosting parties? We've always had our guests stay overnight.

Well they'd play throughout the night then sleep from dawn onwards.

I know I know I know. It sounds like we had vampires as party guests.

But they were always very nice.

Either way, because our house is so rural any playmates we have had over for non party meets were always welcome to stay over.

And shoot some pool too. You can't have guests over without playing pool.

well, thanks for the input, folks. At last we realize that we've been playing by a somewhat different set of 'rules' to most on here. But it's fine. We'll just carry on the way we do... "Normal rules do not apply"...

I can accommodate on occasion but only for guys I've met already. But it doesn't mean they can spend the night. I like my own space

I can accomadate in my own place but an overnight is only offered to guys who travel to cork to me as I don't want them having the expense of a hotel after making the effort of coming to cork. Cork lads need to be going home.....that's just lazy lol

Can accommodate for us means they can play at ours. We wouldn't have someone stay the night though and wouldn't expect it either.

If someone had made a long journey from Dublin, etc, we'd have to reconsider.

For me it means we can play here, and if you fancy staying the night then let's spoon and maybe start again in the morning, or if you prefer there's always the spare room, & you're obviously welcome to breakfast.

We would have the same understanding / approach as Bex & Shandy.

We accommodate for the "fun" part of the evening, prior to which we would have invited our guests for a bite to eat, chat & drinks. This is to facilitate good socialising, get to know our invited guests, all of which makes the "fun" even better as one is really connecting with guests.

As our guests would have travelled we always offer overnight accommodation & "brekkie". If some more fun happens it is a very welcome bonus.

We have made a number of real friends this way & repeatedly meet them. Fun is great in itself, fun with friends is fantastic & it always gets better with each encounter.

If someone doesn't wish to stay, that is OK. No pressure one-way or the other.

We love the friendships which we have established. It may not be what everyone wants but its what we enjoy & like about it all.

I don't accommodate. My home is home for my son too so the option is not there.

I do travel and love travelling so I'm happy to do that.

Not sure if I would feel comfortable in a person's home unless I had met them a few times before

Nobody, does accomodate better then you guys...D&B.

I felt like one of the family by the time I left....

And without any hint of exaggeration, your accommodation and your beautiful vale can only be described as magical.

The only way to improve upon it's perfection would be to heat the stream and pool...that passes through it.

That's not withstanding that you are two of the most interesting people on here...and anyone would be enriched to spend a day with you...

still a fan...

ps. To my Apples,

hope you can accomodate tonight...

I've always taken it to mean that the person has a suitable place to accomodate a meet, ie they don't live in a share house or similar.
