As mentioned before first rule is to actually turn up, which a lot of people seem not to apply. I have never hosted a party but it must drive those that do mad when so many don't turn up.

The worst part is when a newbie arrives, is handed a microphone, has to stand on chair, read profile out aloud, hand a print-out of profile to everyone there... and then watch them leave one by one!!
