Pop Up M&G's

Hi All

Just wondering if a pop up M&G work. Kind of a short notice M&G in a specific place to be given out to interested parties. Just a _aid back affair in a pub/bar for a couple of hours setup maybe the monday or tuesday before a weekend. Could be held in different counties!

Well respected (well verified) fabbers would have to be involved to gain trust to it.

Just a thought, just seeing what folks think. If ye think its a silly idea please so also.

It's the type of thing needed just for people to initially meet.... no agenda!

Yes they would have a very short shelf life but at least it gives people a chance to actually meet up and see if profiles are true/false, etc.

Then if people want to meet at w/end or whenever they will have already met.

Indeed... just coffee meets with people in one's catchment area.

No hotels needed

Well Laid

I suppose the pop up M&G would just be for a county and maybe the neighbouring counties just a a casual meet up to pass a few hours.

the larger m&g's would be more suited hor hotel stays because they are more aimed at the nationwide fabber.

the pop up m&g's could fill the gap between the larger m&g's maybe

If done right and with the understanding it's just meeting for a coffee with other fabbers it could work.

Nervous/first timers (male/female/couples) could at least meet people instead of just looking at profiles.

If they want to meet up for fun at a later stage then that is up to them...

At the moment there are no gaps between the larger m&gs! Say for instance having one in Cork may still mean someone from cork has to travel an hour or more like. So really only suited to people within 30 mile radius if wanna do it short notice.

Depends on how short notice... even a coffee meet say at 3 p.m. on a Sat a/noon, 30 or 40 miles is possible if arranged a day or two in advance.

So Cavan/Longford/Roscommon/Sligo would be possible in my case. So if others travelled in opposite direction people from 60 or 70 miles away from me could be there

Meet in a bar some night. Just like a normal night, mingling amongst normal punters. You can drink whatever you want

Kildare

We hosted these around the country and advertised them in the forums, we started originally due to the high number of forum posts saying how hard it was to get a verification. So we said we would verify anyone who did actually show up. (the verification stated that this member turned up as promised to a social meet)

Initially they were very well attended but then numbers decreased, the amount of no shows when it was pointed out that the meet was not a party but just social drinks.

We are lucky to travel on a regular basis and will continue to occasionally post these type of meets in the forums, if nothing else its a nice way to meet fellow fabbers.

So OP go for it and good luck with it...

BTW we will be having one in Limerick mid November.

Any ideas for an initiative to bring more fresh faces to the swinging scene? An event strictly for the unseasoned but curious would be types.

I think minds have broadened a lot in Ireland in recent years so could it be semi public to attract new interest??

im not sure about public or even semi public. you would still have to be carefull how it was organised to avoid unwanted people showing up. ireland has moved on but.......!

protecting peoples privacy who do go would be very important.

Well there would have to be a bottom line/minimum requirement... e.g. For only those who have sent in a photo to admin verifying their profile for example...

Any profiles where there is no photo verification does 'suggest' that it is a fake.

If that was the minimum requirement to join fab it would eliminate a lot of the crap that does go on but I'm not going to tell admin their job.

Feel like a historian here diggers was before that the holloween on in cork got national attention in the papers but the organisers and hotel worked together and pulled of what was reported to be the party of the year.

well yes the main point of it is a friendly meet up but if sparks do fly with certain parties im sure they could make other arrangements if they really wanted to.

hotel bars might be a good option. they would not be busy during the week, have plenty of parking and the rooms are there also.

but the main aim is a social get together.

Well a hotel implies rooms.... Reckon a pub, near hotel, would be more 'social', then if sparks fly they can get a room, while others can just have relaxing drink and chat.

Just an opinion!

Outside of the cities there are a few 1st timers/nervous fabbers who might welcome a chance to get together with other fabbers for a coffee or drink.
