Just looking for people's opinion on something I've been thinking about.

How acceptable is it to have a meet in your own home but to ask that your guest/guests leave after playing?

We quite often have a free house, but I'm not sure how I feel about having people I don't really know staying the night.

We have never had a meet at our house because of this as I feel it may be a little unfair to the person/people who have to travel.

Thoughts please?

We had a party in our house and we made it quite clear that noone could stay. It is your house and your rules and others must respect that.

If I already have a place to stay nearby, then I don't mind being asked to leave after play.

If I don't have anywhere to go, then I'd make you aware of it beforehand and ask if you'd have a spare room.

Yeah it just makes it quite tricky. Obviously if we knew the person/people it would be fine.

But if we were thinking of planning a mmf I think I would prefer the guy not to stay the night.

Saying that though; if I'm travelling, then I always do my best to arrange accommodation for myself as I don't like to rely on others.

I would think it's fair enough for strangers not to stay over...but on the other hand if you are comfortable to invite them to your home then you probably would be happy with them staying after...

I'd be thinking this would only happen on repeat meets when a level of trust has been established..

Thanks for all the responses, great to see the different opinions.

We only have a small house and all rooms except ours are single rooms and I wouldnt be comfortable having people I don't know staying in them.

I think I'm leaning towards my house my choice, and then it's totally up the the person of they want to come or not

I agree with the trust issue, when we have a party people leave a while after playing or they'be booked in somewhere nearby. Have had people stay over and probably would have again.

If you make it clear from the beginning that you don't like the person to stay over the whole night, I don't see a problem. Should they not like that, so be it and move on to the next who will accept your rules. As simple as that.

Oh great...... And everyone is happy with that arrangement?

The nearest place to stay is 10 minutes from our house so there is the option of that I suppose.

Most of our meets are at our home but there's no way I would put someone up just a no no I have no issue in going half too pay for there room in a local hotel or b&b or towards petrol for them but a sleep over at our home not a chance unless we really know them and have met them a good few times then we can bend the rules a little

Your house, your rules.

I have been lucky enough to have been put up for the night a few times(usually parties) but the odd single meet has allowed me to stay over too. (i must be trustworthy) But i don't get annoyed if i'm told "after you're done, you're gone"

That being said miss _cjoy, i'd love a sleepover at yours!

Ah no, it's nothing like that at all. I'm a trusting type of person do that wouldn't enter my head and I'm usually a very good judge of character.

My issue is that our home is a family home and having strangers staying makes me a little uncomfortable.

I think alot of ppl would feel uncomfortable staying as well. If I'm traveling to meet someone I'll book a hotel room and can meet there or if it's local I'll just head away home when the time is right.

No one should out stay a welcome

Lay out the rules before hand. It's up to that person then to go along with it or not. If it happened that you were very comfortable with the meet you could then invite them to stay over.

That's totally understandable. Some people expect to stay over when you are inviting them to yours so best to be upfront and say it. Personally I expect nothing but best to be clear with people. Assuming that's the case then swing on!

If it doesn't feel right, then don't do it,it would just play on your mind and quite possibly, take the focus of having fun.

Explain CLEARLY that you prefer them to leave and there should be no hassle. It is after all your family home,no one or nothing should interfere with you and your home place.

Thanks everyone for all the input and advice. This is something new for us (still in the thinking stages) and everyone's comments have been a big help.

I think we'll go with our initial plan and just have a no sleepover policy...... But rules could always be bent for very special people
