I'm going down a different route here when you talk about "bands".... there are 2 pipe bands from Irhe eland who are 2 out of the top 6 bands in the world

First is the Field Marshall Montgomery pipe band from Lisburn/Belfast who are the most successful pipe band to ever come from Ireland having won the world pipe band championships on 9 occassions and from Dublin St.Laurence O'Toole pipe band, again former world pipe band and presently world drum corps champions

The Understones for me...worked with them at events and they are fantastic. I like The Script too.......Amongst any student in Ireland in the last ten years they will also talk of a band called The Rapparees....used to see them regularly at student events we done and also in The Bot in Belfast..

Saw Philo and the boys in City Hall Cork in 1980, Snowy White had just joined the band from Pink Floyd - still the best live gig I ever saw. Live and Dangerous the best live album ever recorded by an Irish band - maybe any band

i actually saw thin lizzy not long before phil lynott passed away and to put it plainly they were pretty crap, they wouldn't play any of there hits and virtually got booed of a small club stage .

I love whisky in the jar and parisien walkways but having said that they were not many other songs that were great so call them great is with tinted glasses sorry but it is true
