I would have percieved before that a swinger was someone who swopped or shared themselves and their partners. Can single people actually 'swing'?

I can. But admit if I do too much I get dizzy and if I really dog it am bound to end up with vertigo.

True meaning of swinging was sharing / swapping partners.

In today's society it's about enjoying sexual experience with others without forming relationships as in NSA.

Yes thought that. On your second point, I think the meaning is quite broad because if a person had two or three FB's and one night stands etc as in NSA relationships you wouldn't call it swinging
