Rode bikes all my life. Was a motorcycle courier for 8 years and have the scars to prove it. I don't have a bike now, just a pushie that I use to keep fit and healthy.

VFR’s? I had one of those. A blue 1997 model. Purchased it brand spanking new for around 14.5k au back in 97 off course. It was the only car or bike I have ever had from new. I always wanted one the first time I saw one. Having it was like the beautiful exotic Japanese gf I never had. Like Fook Mi or Fook U from that Austin Powers movie. (Threesome with Japanese twins is still my bucket list) Anyway Im going tell what happened of the day I went and picked that bike up. This will either make you laugh or cringe. lol

So I’m at the bike shop and paid paid for everything and sales guy said it’s going to take about 1/2-1 hour for our boys to get your bike ready, put oil in it, clean it up and all. So I come back about an hour later and there it is all shinny and new looking after they had polish it with something. Jump on it, ride down the ramp as the bike shop boys say goodbye and get out on to a busy road. I get about 50 meters down road and see a gap in the traffic and lean over a little to turn right, give it just little gas to complete the right turn before the next car arrived then backend slipped out from underneath me and boom, If dropped my brand new bike right outside the bike shop in the middle of traffic.

So there I am, flat on my ass in the middle of the road with 218kg of probably Janpan’s finest metal and plastic lying on it’s side in total disgrace. The embarrassment. I won’t go there. It was major lol. I bet the guys in Japan who assembled the thing where even pissing themselves laughing and saying, he would have made a good kamikaze pilot.

So I quickly pick the bike up and get out of the way of the traffic and the guys form the bike shop come over and say, bring it back to the shop so we can check it out to make sure it’s ok. Had big starches on the right fairing and dent in the tank and I think some damage to the mirror. About 1000 bucks worth of damage. Talk about embarrassing Beautiful bike though. Loved it.

Trim

Started in 1979 with a Honda 50 and finished in 2013 on a BMW RT1150. Now have a convertible car: not quite the same but (weather dependent) I do still get the, wind in my hair

It's not funny but, one can't help but smile. Mine is a 2005 model blue as well, they are a fantastic machine built to last. Do you still have yours

No I sold it about a year later, needed the money. Thinking about getting another one. They are only 1000 euro now but Ireland is not the best country for bikes, due to weather and poor road conditions.

There is no such thing as bad weather just bad gear, you should try the roads down our side of the country, it's like trying to ride a bucking bronco,
