Hi guys! Just wondering if it's the norm to ask someone here to see proof of been STI free !!! I've just been asked for it ! I'm still fairly new here and thought I've heard it all by now but this has certainly taken me by surprise !

I'd agree..given the nature of the site its natural for people to ask that. I'm tested every 6 months for complete blood scans for cholesterol thyroid etc so it's all clear.

Over the years, I have been meticulous about testing, and personaly have changed my sexual preferences to avoid some STIs.

Have certainly discussed the issue with potential meets, but have never demanded proof.

I once was accused by a guy and a weird couple he played with of possibly giving him something, he later aplogised claiming it was a dental problem

Way too late for apologising!!!

If you do not feel comfortable with this guy`s demand, then do not meet him.

A test is proof that nothing was detected on the day of the test. Really no more than that. And some diseases take a while after infection occurs to show up.

I'm regularly tested, not for any reason or condition, just a personal health habit I got into once with an ex, every 3-4 months if sexually active with someone new. Always got the all clear and never got a certificate or any written proof, usually the doctor just give you the results and you're away.

I suppose you could get printed results if you asked for them?

It's great to get regular blood scans and all, but as far as I know they don't test for things like chlamydia or HPV unless asked for, they usually require a swab to be taken

I'd agree..given the nature of the site its natural for people to ask that. I'm tested every 6 months for complete blood scans for cholesterol thyroid etc so it's all clear.

It's great to get regular blood scans and all, but as far as I know they don't test for things like chlamydia or HPV unless asked for, they usually require a swab to be taken

Totally agree as I had my bloods done recently and asked for the sti screening and they said that has to be done at the GUM STI clinic.

Stds only reveal symptoms after the infection has become apparent eg. Genital warts that have to be burned off, other infections can lie dormant and the carrier can be unaware. Regardless of whether you care about sexual partners you should at least care about yourself first and foremost and protect yourself at all costs. Sexual health is down to individuals, not for your current partner to worry about for you.

We get tested in the free walk in clinic in James's hospital. They don't give you a cert saying you are clean or anything. Just say "we will call you if there are any issues". Plus proof means nothing. You could be cleared of all stis, then catch something later that night after you get tested. I think you just have to be wear protection and understand the risks when in this lifestyle

It can keep recurring as its passed back and forth without treatment. So as much as the guys should be aware of their bodies, a simple thing like thrush that ladies are carriers of naturally can infect the man. Be aware girls

While I manly agree with the above it has to be said though that Thrush is no STI and I've never heard that trush is being treated with antibiotics. It's a fungus, I don't think antibiotics would do anything there!

You are right DH that its a fungus present naturally in a woman and pessary creams and tablets can be used on her like Canestan, it can be passed to a man if not treated. And although its not an sti, if its passed back and forth between 2 people without treatment it eventually needs anti biotics to kill the fungus if no condoms are used.

If both partners are affected, an oral antifungal is usually required, must be prescribed by a doctor.

Many women get recurrent thrush which does not respond to otc treatment.

We didn't get anything on paper last time we were in. Just a verbal all clear.

Noone can KNOW they are clear unless tested. At our last test the nurse told us they have young people in with warts who had never even had sex. Fingers are enough.
