What is your favourite acknowledgment when letting someone out of a junction..

Mind is the hand up

Not a big fan of the hazard lights, feels impersonal

The old indicate right left right feels like a fair ground

My favourite acknowledgement is the driver actually reacting to you flashing your lights to let them out. I've seen drivers waiting for ages at a junction and not being let out by others, I've flashed em and they keep looking at me. I'm beginning to believe they want me to get out and knock on their window and say "would you like to merge into the lane?".

Why not do a good deed without feeling the need for acknowledgement.

I guess you are right, saying thanks is basic manners in any situation, why bother.

I stick with tradition and stick my forefinger up from the hand that's holding the steering wheel

We still do it here in the sticks to every car we meet as a hello. Even to strangers. Quaint

Hand up and a little smile. If someone lets me out, I wave and actually say thank you, even though I know they can't hear me

"Why not do a good deed without feeling the need for acknowledgement."

Cos theres no point. If theyre not prepared to say thank you they dont deserve to be let out. And its mostly silly women.

May be annoying to women who read this but definitely oh so true.

Funny story.

Let this little blonde out there last week of a busy junction. Got a big wave and we exchanged some glimpses in her mirror.. thought nothing of it..

6hours later in pub she comes up and buys me a drink. Ended up staying with her that nite. Its defo nice to be nice

a lot of women need to relax when driving. ..very few will let u out at junctions, and a lot seem to speed up if they think you have a chance to sneak out...

So without acknowledgement, there's no good deeds in you?

Oh there are. In buckets. But I have often regretted letting people out. You stop, flash, and they continue to chat or look the other way. Then the traffic behind starts to beep at me. Sometimes, they then get the message and emerge, still chattin and on their merry way without so much as a nod. And unfortunately it is not the small minority. Grrrrr

Let them be ignorant of your deeds, doing good for others may not make them any better, but it won't make you any worse.
