I dunno that's a dangerous area, sexuality but I think sexual orientation is based on what gender you find attractive i.e the opposite, the same, or both whereas swinging would more be a lifestyle choice because at the end of the day you are still attracted to the gender you're attracted to? (sorry if that makes me sound like a little know it all prick btw )

Sexual preference and sexual identity merge and flux. Some gay men may consider their status to be grounded in their sexual preference rather than any wider form of identity. Some swingers may consider their time an experiment or a 'bit of fun' while others may view it as fundamental to their sexuality and personal choices. They would likely be much more open and exhibit symptoms of 'sexual identity' if society permitted it. But it doesn't and so they live in the closet much as homosexuals did 40 years ago.

One piece of truism about new swingers is they should be aware that they may create a sexual appetite that they cant fulfil outside of group sex scenarios. When you dance with the devil you dont change him, he changes you. A very real problem for couples is that one may take to it, the other not and withdrawal causes resentment. This, of course, isnt an issue for those using the swinging scene for casual 1-2-1 hook ups rather than couples swapping or group sex scenarios. If you're on the scene but using it in a bar pick up way then fair enough its not really a sexual identity issue. But if you are someone who enjoys scenarios that only group sex can provide then likely it is going beyond your preference and making up a fundamental element of what you need for fulfilment and then it IS a sexual identity issue.

Which is one of the reasons people in the lifestyle should fully support their LGBT brothers and sisters in all their fights.

Of course its entirely another issue that its unlikely to happen as polyamory and the lifestyle can get a very hostile reception in LGBT communities as their adoption strategy has been to make the debate about LOVE (in a monogamous sense) and not sex. Poly and swingers are a threat to that strategy as the conservative puritans can point the finger at 'dirty sex perverts'.

"Swinging isn't a sexuality tho?"

It is. It's not a sexual orientation though. Your sexual orientation, or sexual identity may be based in your sexuality though.

Looking at porn would be a sexuality, looking at gay porn would be your sexual orientation.

For a lot of people swinging would be their sexuality, and it migjt affect their orientation (orallybi curious in a group but not alone). It woild be a massive part of their sexual identity though.

Lbgt stands for lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender if i remember right. 3of them are sexual orientations, transgender is not a sexual orientation. So you could argue that adding swinging would be perfectly acceptable. It is a closet sexuality with sexual orientation and identity issues that could use a voice with lbgt community.
