Was just looking at another thread and seen that there is a few people into cycling was just wondering would there be any interest in doing a fab cycle???

I have done a few 100km cycles the last few years for different charity's and one for a local child that had a type of syndrome which raised a lot of money for the child... It would not be easy organise but I'm sure with a little bit of help it could be done... It's a great way to get up off our ass and do something for a good cause to meet people and get fit...

belfast

Proper cycles with a lot of people need all sorts of permissions and insurance

I can see it working if it's just a group of people getting together

A get together cycle and then staying over in a hotel to help massage the sore legs could work

Well could drop it to what people would like maybe 50km but you would have to do some training for it...

Yea that's true... Maybe I didn't think this one through properly...

Well a get together 30km cycle would work

Naas

Probably wise to join Cycle Ireland first, for insurance purposed. Anyone who has fallen off a bike know how sore it is and expensive id your bike is damaged.

Non cyclists could do 40 kms no problem at a handy pace.

I did the maracycle from Dublin to Belfast and then back the next day but that was back in the '80's when I was in my 20's...oh those were the days

Nice idea

If there is enough interest I will try and organise something it's not a race or anything just a bit of craic social thing and for the training meet up with fellow fabbers and train together..

No not the same day.....cycle to Belfast on the Saturday and cycled back to Dublin on the Sunday. Surely others here did it too. It was a Co:- Operation North initiative to promote harmony etc between the North n the South...it was an annual event during the 1980s.

Yep those racer saddles were not designed for comfort that's for sure but it was my legs that were stiff in the days after...... I must have had enough natural padding in the bum area thankfully!! lol

Dublin West

Your arse gets used to it the more often you do it.

I used to be sore the day after but now i can do several hours pain free.

It's like everything your body gets used to it the more often you do it.

You would need to have a van following you on the cycle in case of mecahnical failures or if people couldnt continue, and that might be an issue if you on an old railway line as the van might not be able to get to you.

But a nice idea and a fun way to pass a couple of hours..
