The majority of time it's very easy to spot a fake profile,I won't mail or reply to anyone who s not photo verified, I can understand someone not wanting to share face pics but your photo verification pic always stays private.

Don't feel like a fool. Most of us have been caught out at some stage.

The longer your on here and the more you chat to others, the faster you'll spot the signs.

Don't feel like a fool. Most of us have been caught out at some stage.

I'd say go with your gut instinct, if it seems too good to be true it probably is.

Be aware of how a person comes across when mailing you. I think women have a certain way of expressing themselves in writing that men don't.

If it's a couple or a single fem you're getting to know then ask would it be ok to say a quick hello on the phone early on if you have a doubt.

Maybe removing your mobile number from your profile might be wise. I'm sure this might lead to texts from men pretending to be something they're not.

They do get easier to spot overtime xx

We must be fakes,and our 90 odd verifications must be fakes as well.

We aren't photo verified,nor will we ever be,and sweet won't speak to a stranger on the phone just to satisfy their curiosity or doubts.

Saying that,we don't expect everyone to want to meet us and we are quite content in the knowledge we are limiting our chances of meeting others.

I cab respect that, but looking at it from the other side: sure not everyone is comfy with swapping numbers, but it this modern age of Skype and webcams its not that much hassle to have a quick call without swapping personal info to put everyone at ease?

In my opinion anyone reluctant to take some kind of voice/video call is an instant red flag.

Thankfully I deal with almost zero fakes nowadays but starting out there was a general consensus of "you're a single guy we don't have to prove anything to you" amongst a lot of people.

Except yeah, you do. I've as much right to know if I'm dealing with fakes as they are.

I'm not saying you're not genuine grey, but just offering a different perspective.

u could get guys pretending to be ladies and asking to meet u , or even look for phone credit , happens all the time so be carefull

I don't do voice or video calls. When I was starting out it was more "you're a single female so prove that you are." I joined for myself, not to jump through hoops for a meet, so if someone thinks I'm fake then I dodged a bullet. We all take risks by meeting so why add the risk of being recorded?

Newbee56 is a fake profile, when I joined fab first I was chatting to her we were getting on fine and swapped numbers but she would never answer or send a pic I rang the number randomly a few times on private number and a guy answered every time, since then I'm a lot more wary of who I chat to, this profile is still active, scumbag!

Any profile that has 'i am a "" year old straight woman and I'm looking to meet men' two or three pop over every day then they leave within a few hours. I have been on and off fab for a few years and I see these profiles every day. They never ever reply when you email. Have look now and see how many you can spot.

I was mailing a woman on here and then she started to whatsapp with pics but she said she couldn't converse with me as she never had any signal? Can that happen? Kind of organised a drink meet but of course it never happened and she's verified

If she can whatsapp she can viber, both internet carried apps... if she can viber she can take a viber call! My first phone call with a 'woman' - she called but had to whisper because she was sick and her child was asleep beside her, lucky me I had Lily Savage phone me personally

Well I won't ever be photo verified either as my partner won't get in a pic naked headless or any other I did however strip off n posed but it wasn't accepted as I'm part of a couple! I have a fine a 20 quid piece of crap that does exactly what it says on the tin calls n txts so I don't Skype Viber or WhatsApp because then I need to use my normal FONE that's left around the house n that's to dodgy

1. Spelling mistakes or txt speak in the profile

2. Looking to meet tonight for improbable scenarios...

3. Looking for face pic in 1st message.

4. Face pic on profile or a name on profile

5. Described as slim with curvy pic or vice versa

6. Veri from a guy on here a very short time with no pocs or veri of their own.

7. Profiles set up 2 days ago but last log in same day or 1 day ago

The list is endless....

Look at genuine well verified profiles and you will get to recognise what sets them apart from the fakes very easily.

I have a problem with #6. You can't verify a profile if you're not verified yourself.

Tbh fake is what u make it yourself, there is loads of fake profiles without spelling mistakes or not face pics etc, go by what u think yourself, chat to people and if there fake there fake block and ignore but don't judge profiles on what the rest say, I've been on here for at least 5 years on and off and believe me it's very easy to get someone to give u a fake verification (actually there's a site out there that I could get aleast 50 verifications if I asked) so I wouldn't even judge people on there verifications, yes there's tell tale signs of course but the way people act on here if u havnt got verified within 39 seconds of joining then your fake lol

Also just to add when I joined I got accused of being fake cause someone was using the same profile pic as me which user was verified, tho that member apologised when i sent her the full picture of what he was using (hard to fake a rare birthmark)

Their is always going to be fakes online, just have to be prudent. I remember I had this girl message me on pof one time and in her profile picture she was clearly Asian but under ethnicity it was listed Caucasian so red flag straight away, I said it to her, she admitted the picture was fake, apologised and deleted the profile!

The best one I have come across yet was when this girl messaged me and all her photos were of this girl from Dublin I had actually met on holidays in Crete a year earlier so I knew straight away it was fake! What are the chances of that happening, but having watched catfish nothing really surprises me any more!
