What's people thoughts or reactions to a parent starting a new relationship after the death of a mother or father.

Do you feel betrayal to the loss parent do you feel instant dislike..... Life goes on happy sad emotions..

See no problem with it - after a respectful period of mourning. Problem is for some that could be a month. For others a year. No "one size fits all".

It happens and it is difficult esp the first year emotions are raw. 1 if they are happy you shud be happy. 2 if its difficult for you explain this without shouting and screaming try come to mutual understanding and ask that the new partner not be there if your visiting till you get your head around it. Mourning for a parent never ends but does get easier over time.

Just my Cool 2 Cents

After losing my Dad I thought my mum should never be with anyone else, he was the love of her life. But she has met someone new who is amazing for her, brought her back out of her shell. And he has taken time to get to know me and my sisters. he treats her like a princess.

She was my Daddy's Queen and he will always be King of my heart.

I'm talking bout myself here.

And yes I'm sure people thinking this is not the place to be talking bout things on a swingers site.

I just wanted people's reactions if they had been through the same. Is it normal at my age to feel this instinct betrayal but know I'm being selfish at the same time.

No its very natural to feel that way. But just remember everyone needs companionship and yes it will be difficult to see them with some1 new but if it makes them happy then you've got to suck it up and get on with it as best u can!!

If I can deal with it at my age then you will do just fine!

Its tough but everyone deserves to have someone to keep them company and make them feel normal again. I understand and can relate to your situation.my dads girlfriend had the same name as me which was even worse and all of a sudden it was Cat who.me and my mam were forgotten.well that's how it felt.so I hated the woman even though there was nothing wrong with her and she made him happy.

Don't judge a person based on everybody else's judgement! Get to know that person in your own way, take your time getting to know that person and then judge! Trust your own instincts!!

My mother died when Ivwas very young and my Dad re married and consequently separated some 18 years later when I was 21. He sent me a letter telling me all about the new love of his life. I remember the scalding anger I felt towards him because I felt he was betraying my mother and us. It was the strongest emotion I have ever felt. It took a while to work through it but time is a healer and he is very happy, and her adult kids and us call eachother brother and sister and the kids are growing up as cousins. But yes I can understand you. You need to give it time and sure as long as your parent is happy you shoild be happy for him, at least that should be the goal.

My town

My mother is 2 and half years passed. I suppose it would not matter how long. It's the first time dating. And how I found out

He never approached me.

I'm a grown woman and I know everyone is entitled to a happy life with someone.

I get the betrayal I kind of feel that... I suppose it was handled wrong from my father's prospective and emotions run high.

Put yourself in his shoes, life is lonely even in a house full of family there is always a need for a certain someone to share thoughts and feelings and to feel special, remember that he's not moving on , just learning to accept his loss and to find a place for his own life. Life is short and painful without love
