Do we reveal too much of ourselves?

Swinging is fleeting, for most people. Because of that I keep my distance. I don't want to get to know people too well, or for them to know me. Learned my lesson along time ago.

On another site a number of years back a lady who I know well invited a few of her "swinger" friends to her childs confirmation party. I was invited too. I declined. The others went along. These 10 swingers were "best friends" at the time and inseparable on the site.

I met up with this lady a couple of weeks back. We got talking about her close friends from the site. I wondered if they were still in contract. The answer was no. Swinging was the glue that kept them together. Once that was gone, so was the friendship.

Do many of the beautiful people of fab have best friends here who will continue to be best friends after the swinging goes. Have ye been to each others family functions?

I don't think there can ever be true friendships within the swinging scene.. too risky to expose that much of ur private life...

Ive made great friends here and ive attended family functions of fellow fabbers. It can and does happen and I'd like to think we're friends for life

This time last year I would have said yes, that I'd made some real lasting friendships on here.

However throughout my pregnancy more and more friends slid away, despite me making an effort to stay in touch. It happened in real life too so should have come as no surprise. When you're not out partying and drinking, you're no fun anymore.

I've learned not to rely or trust people as much anymore on here because of it.

We have made very good friends here... Some people you instantly 'click' with and it's more than just swinging. A couple of couples we met and played with over two years ago and haven't played with since (for a variety of reasons) are still very good, very close friends. So if say it depends on the people really. Maybe we're just lucky?

I've made some great and true friends here, and been along to family functions too....

I think it's clearly possible that friendships and bonds can be made, but it's also down to the mindset of the individuals.

As life has given us different challenges or our paths have deviated I have lost contact with real friends I am not that good at keeping contact. During different phases of life I have made friends and some good ones never fallen out with any of them every now and again our paths cross again and we rekindle,catch up, on friendships I expect it will be the same here

Well if I'm honest we have found a great couple who we know that if our swinging lifestyle was to stop at any moment that our friendship would continue!! We know about theyre personal life as they do ours and I can honestly say they will truely be our friends for life with or without fab!!!

Making real friends requires to open up to others mutually. Given the paranoia of being part of the lifestyle in Ireland, I think it is difficult to make real friends through it, although not impossible.

For me the lifestyle means that I express myself sexually not only with the people through the sites I am on, but also through vanilla encounters and these people (not being part of fab or other sites) know what I am into and I know what they like sexually too, so it makes it easier to become friends that way, as there is no feeling of being part of something secretive.

We r the exact same although on the other hand some have also moved on, same as real life

Some people can make lasting friendships here. I'll have friends from fetish scene at my daughters in April and see no problem with it. I've had a fellow fabber come over have a movie day with myself and daughter. This site doesn't have to all be about sex.

Friends in fab for me are few. But that's my choice to keep my personal life private. Would never invite any of them to family occasions but one has helped me out when I asked in a work situation I needed his trade and advice.

Otherwise I don't mix the two.

I have only a hand full of true friends, people that I can trust and know for years.

I wouldn't let someone that in fairness you couldn't possibly know from here enter my normal lifestyle. That's not saying people here shouldn't but its not something I would do.

Maybe I have trusting issues

i have a friend ..from before ..with whom we swing..

have also met ... through swing ,that i would regard as friends ...

people are people ..some are here for the skin deep ..some are, perhaps looking a connection ,in other ways, before deciding to get down n dirty ... ..which may include other shared interests etc , never mind the cuddles..
