So TD Paul Murphy as been arrested for the protest 3 months ago in jobstown took seven gardai who turned up at hes house this morning at 7 am.

What do people think of this on?.

Well too be fair if someone blocked me in for a few hours in my car I'd be highly pissed off and would be asking the Garda too deal with it I agree too protests but there's a limit and they broke the limit that's what I think of it so they deserved it being honest

Political policing simple as!! This is the kind of shit that happens to opposition politicians in some of the most repressed societies on the planet (granted not as bad but the idea is the same). I don't see corrupt politicians or bankers being led out of their houses at 7am like mass murderers and questioned for "false imprisonment". The footage shows her sitting in The back of her car, paid for by the same people "terrorising" her, on her phone laughing which is hardly the behaviour of a woman who has been falsely imprisoned. Time people in this country woke up and demanded the real criminal bankers developers and politicians were jailed and not someone trying to give the voiceless a voice.

It was a foolish move on the protesters behalf. Of course the tanaiste was going to use this opportunity to try and put a negative on the anti-water charges campaign.

What beggars belief is why are they only being arrested now.

mark my words something been either passed through today or voted on in the rail. Its a tactical move to take attention of something else.

I think Ireland was eay to soft at the time gave in to easy to the Germans,I can see alot more countries leaving the euro like Greece.

If Paul.Murphy was prevented from leaving his drive way for 2 hours by people shouting at him and rattling his car then he might want the cops to do something. If it is political then it is fairly stupid. The water meter thing has lost public steam, why drum it up again

But sure if was a danger at the protest they could of arrested him there and then for surely it would come under public order why the 3 month investigation tho.

Anyway do we have any really stromg parties at the moment to challenge Enda Kenny I think he do another term it be fairly close when it comes to the votes mind you he wont be getting my vote.

Bull irrespective of water charges nobody should be intimidated by gangs of thugs pretending to be all for the people .....us culchies are paying for water for years and we dont feel the need to bombard ministers cars ....the real time to protest was when the bank guarantee was given and the usc was introduced ??????

You have no constitutional right for that protest to be moved so you can be at work on time.

Its the most important right in the constitution, without it we might as well still be under british rule. The police pushing people out of the way and assaulting them are a disgrace.

No I wont rephrase.

My point is, if some girl sits on the road to peacfully protest, then no guard should assault her, and any guard that does should be arrested. Not that the police should join the protest.

One guard assaults someone peacefully protesting as the "majority" look on and do nothing. I'm not gonna give that a pass.

I understand its tough to be an honest, person working as a guard, its a gang with criminal elements, where standing up to those criminal elements means you become an outcast, lose your job, maybe your family and life will fall apart, even the government will turn against you.

That sucks, it really sucks bad, but it does not give those guards that do nothing a free pass. It just means they are stuck in a bad place.

Also, to put it context, I have signed up to pay the water charges and wont be protesting them, I just feel very strongly that people should be allowed protest.

its Disgraceful..... It was interesting that the first few arrested are all involved in politics even though the protest was not organised by them. They didn't arrest anyone who organised it.

They are trying hard to make people who support the non paying of the water tax out to be serious criminals.

In other countries protesters throw petrol bombs and riot even physically assault politicians.we have had several protests with 70,80,90,100 thousand people attend without any problems.In Jobstown they sat down and protested with out resorting to violence but because the media is bias it's twisted to make it out that the protesters are as bad as the provos or organised drug gangs.

Phone Burton was surrounded by police And in no danger she only had people blocking her car could have got out into a garda car and people couldn't block that if the sirens were.

won't be long until a bill is put in front of the Dail to make protesting illegal.

Really ? Fascist,I think it might be worth your while reading and discussing the origins of the Fine Girl party

,historically known as "the blueshirts" aligned with fascisim.We are told today and in recent political history that Irelands' mainstream parties are so called "centre right",they have and as with the European Parliament become so far right wing that it's is plain to see,citizens are becoming no more than a burden to the profiteering of massive global business.
