The relative ease of objectifying sexuality

Naas

Porn. Access thereto. Simplicity of acquiring.

In my heyday as a third level student in Galway I have fond memories of myself and the lads getting up on our bikes, cycling into town, going into a certain video shop, with pure trepidation. When the time was right, we darted into the "adult section" which was partitioned from the general area.

The delights of the neon light flashing in there and seeing the glorious rows upon rows upon rows of porn videos. That moment was such a thrill and in hindsight, possibly surpassed the feeling of even watching the video itself.

These days one can simply sit in the comfort of ones own home, click the laptop and boom! porn to the hearts content.

It's been made too easy. It should still only be for the brave folk who have to seek it out, stare the person in the face as you pay for it and walk out the door feeling the anticipation of whats to come.

That's what made the porn experience for me. I no longer watch porn, it does nothing for me. Being here is a more realistic and rewarding replacement.

Does porn now make it so easy that it objectifies sexuality to such an extent that it colours ones view of the actual human touch?

I think that the over-use of porn can definitely make people a bit numb, sexually and socially... Has to be used wisely and maybe sparingly too. But it's still a great stimulant for many people tho of course. But the danger is that it can act like a drug and a cure-all for unhappy individuals as it's very addictive.

Porn, camming, sex chatting etc, even toys at home alone....none of them can take the place of actually being with someone. For me, at any rate.

Good point. Currently, porn is easily accessible and due to it's presence in the Internet the local differences between German, Italian, French, Nordic, or American are almost gone. It all looks more and more alike (what a pity). No longer it is easy to find a good porn with some sort of a storyline. It is usually just straight to blowjobs and banging.

I remember the old day of renting out VHS cassettes and enjoying the selection process and the excitement of playing the cassette at home. Old good days.

There are studies published online that actually explain the horrific effect that online porn has on the younger generation and it is absolutely game changing in terms of them expressing themselves sexually. It is a massive issue.
