Ok I've noticed recently that people holding party's are charging for them now,

40 for single guy

10 for single girl

20 for couples.

They sad y this is the cost if clean up afterwards,

Does it really cost that much to clean that these prices are being charged for a private house party,

Or is greed starring to slip into the swinging world regarding there's money to be made here.

Don't get me wrong I pay my fee for a party if the organiser had genuine overhead to pay for as in rent, dj, Electric and so forth, but to pay for a private house party I think is bordering been greedy,

Am I right or wrong in thinking this, views please

Yes I am totally agree with you . this has been the case I am refuse to pay 40 euro for house party and yes dj, Electric and so forth, dont mind paying dont mind. Peace.

I'm having a private house party tomorrow, and I'm not charging anything to anyone! As its not about money for me! I did say if the wish to contribute towards some expenses like ice and finger food plus cleaning they are welcome to but only if they wish

but I think for some it is about making few bobs which you can't blame them either it takes a bit of work to organise

I agree it does take time and effort to arrange, but imagine you have over 20/30 people in attendance that's a fair few quid, surely finger food and electric for the night and some cleaning stuff would cost that much. As I said I'd gladly pay towards things like that but there's charging a small fee and there's being greedy

A house party is one thing, a house for a weekend hire another. Who invite people in his own house when he has to fear to renovate it later ..? And when i know some couples and decide to rent a house for a weekend then I share the cost ... anyway am an alien maybe therefore i can't understand the point of view

I wouldn't see anything wrong with someone wanting to make a few quid

Clean up, finger food and it's very time consuming Id imagine

Then you've the risk of someone breaking some stuff or robbing some stuff from the house (yes it does happen I know of two couples who have been robbed from people on this site)

€10 per person regardless of how many are attending is a reasonable fee for what is usually a great night

Yes especially at house parties we should all be the same, each charged the same fee per head. If it's €10, that's €10 per female, €10 per male and €20 per couple. I could never understand how being in a couple means you use less resources than a single male and a single female.

I don't consider I'm going to a house or club

I'm going to a party and I'm happy to pay a fee

For some reason single men are overcharged to make up for the free females which is not fair really

Last January's 'party of the year' cost 50e a couple. The rental on the place was easy to acquire a quote for. Given the numbers on the night the profit would have been upwards of 3 grand.

And yet this years (now cancelled sequel) was fully booked out.

So, fair enough. Its been shown thats what people buy into.

However high prices simply deter younger couples (less disposable income) and those who live further away (petrol and accommodation fees). The 'party of the year' was largely couples in their 40s who can afford upwards of 200e for a night out. If you want fabs younger / hotter (lets not squabble over that) cpls to make your night look like a porno rather than a car crash of a WI fancy dress party then some realism helps.

I think if someone ask and someone pay and both parties are happy there is no problem. There is a huge choice of parties for everybody by price, venue, age range and so on .... It doesn't bug me how much people charge i had never had manner of counting other peoples money or question how they make it .

Us and another couple are helping friends of ours host a party in a few weeks. There is no charge, next morning we will all help clean up.

Have hosted a few parties in the past in Dublin in a rented apartment and charged a tenner a head to cover the cost of rental and nibbles. When hosting at home never have charged. In fairness the following morning clean up had never been an issue as everyone would help. But guess each to their own as it's their home.

Absolutely not wrong on the age groups attending tho. It was very much a largely older/ larger affair with a notable absence of fabs younger couples. I think i could name around 6 sub 40s couples there out of 40 plus in attendence.

Which is fair enough, TheVenue has a similar breakdown any random night.

I was at "the party of the year" and was going again thisyear,money well spent. And it had the youngest demographic of any party i was at btw _uavegent

I can imagine there may be a lot of cleaning up costs after hosting a large party, personally I wouldn't have any problem paying a fee to attend a party.

I have no experience in hosting but am sure there are often bedclothes destroyed and personal item's damaged.

A good night out never costs less than 200 so I reckon it's very reasonable.

Maybe they should have a standard charge per person but they don't want to put off couples and single women.

We host parties on a regular basis and we charge for them, however we charge everyone the same amount. But we 100% can quantify where the money we charge goes, we do not make a profit.

We cook a choice of hot meal, in the past this has been, chicken with white wine sauce with pasta /rice, lasagne with side salad, sea food chowder, braised beef stew with crispy bread to mention a few. We also serve finger food after midnight which normally is home made vol au vonts, chicken goujons, cocktail sausages, rotollos, smoked salmon with brown bread and chocolate , apple pie or gateaux.

We also invite everyone to stay over (so no hotel costs) and we cook breakfast for everyone the following morning.

The clean up takes us a week as there can be in excess of thirty towels and then all the bed linen. We are shopping and cooking for two days prior to the party and then we have the individual emails to all attending.

I don't believe we rip people off but maybe the best people to put that question to are some of our previous guests.

We don't force anyone to attend our parties, we are always very upfront about the cost and we think there is something out there for everyone.

It's hardly a money making operation, on average it's 20 per person, they invite everyone into there home and also provide meals and accommodation.

We have been to probably more than 20 parties in 6 years... and NEVER paid for a single one!

Sometimes we might be asked to bring a plate for the buffet, and we might drop a bottle of plonk on the side for the hosts, but no-one attending has ever paid!

If your hoasting a party in your own home it's akways best to pick one room or your garage put all your valuables and breakables in and lock it then the worst you will have to deal with is spillages and the like !!!

That's just my interpretation of the cost ,makeup staining on bedclothes, a few damaged personal item's, they also provide an evening meal , breakfast and accommodate anyone overnight.

That's about 14 pound in your money.

As hosts we would have to disagree with some of the posts....we have never made a profit from any of our parties in fact we would be at a loss.... Rental and deposits of private houses is very costly however 40-50 euro for a nite is pushing it....we dont make a difference in males females etc for cover charge....you have to take into account rental...deposit...food...drink...broken items that can be over and above the deposit ...I dont agree with anyone making a profit out of a party but thats just my opinion... Theyre more expensive than you would imagine...if we could host at home we wouldnt charge anything....Jilly

It sounds like they like hosting parties but don't want to have the cost of probably 1 or 2k in damage and cleaning costs.

If their guests are doing £1-2k in damage and mess, then they are inviting the wrong kind of people ffs!

That's just my interpretation of the cost ,makeup staining on bedclothes, a few damaged personal item's, they also provide an evening meal , breakfast and accommodate anyone overnight.

That's about 14 pound in your money.

We don't charge to cover damage, we have never had any, I think you may be mixing our post with something else. We also dont charge 40 euro per person.

Been to parties in Ireland, England, Spain and the USA. Always had to pay a small amount.

People who hold regular parties soon get tired of the extra washing (a good venue will have 3-5 beds, 2-3 toilets) and cleaning (condom wrappers kicked under beds, snack crumbs down the sofa) so often, reasonably, get cleaners in or send out the sheets. Add to that condoms, lube, finger food, 2am pizza (the best thing to keep a night going) and time and effort nobody should begrudge anyone charging something reasonable. Add to that the fact that shit gets broken... Lamps, toilet seats, beds... Any regular host knows this. Everyone has the right to make up their mind on whats reasonable but people playing the 'something for nothing' card should think about the costs and burdens on the hosts.

There is a reason there isnt loads of parties in Ireland (a place with no real swingers clubs except a unpopular isolated one and a once-a-month one).. Cause they are a bloody pain in the arse to regularly sort.

And thats before you get to bastards like whoever hounded out Ms. PF and told the newspapers about the Cork meet.

i dout anyone has any problem with the few decent hosts who host parties because they love this lifestyle and enjoy holding parties in their own home or rented place for the purpose . It is the ones who decide to hold a party where they are setting out to make a profit more so than enjoy the company of likeminded folks that is bound to get people riled up . If you hold a party with the purpose of turning a nice profit for yourself then you are a pimp , and it is prostitution .

We have been to probably more than 20 parties in 6 years... and NEVER paid for a single one!

Sometimes we might be asked to bring a plate for the buffet, and we might drop a bottle of plonk on the side for the hosts, but no-one attending has ever paid!

i attend most of celtics parties and i host my own ones and the effort that they put into theirs is amazing. like the last party where else would you attend a party have a dinner,finger food they even have drinks spare if you run out ( or turn up with none) then wake up betwen two women and have a big breakfast and a big pot of tea handed to you and all this for €20 ( well except the women that you have to pay with your own charm sorry) you wouldnt even get a 2 pints and a curry for that ffs if they charged more it would still be a bargain

I can see from both sides of this discussion, iv not been to a private house party full of fabbers YET but considering everytin iv read in here I wouldnt expect there to b free admission there are alot of hidden costs I tink 20 euro is more than reasonable to pay and more if food,entertainment is put on.

100% agree with laids comment except for waking up in bed with the 2 women

,they have absolutely amazing parties, Celtic cpl and laid both run top nights out..

I was one of the very lucky ones who was invited to a private house party held by Celtics .... There was a fee yes and I had absolutely paying it and hope I get to pay it at many more of them .... First class service I must say
